while i agree with most of that.....some people "need" expensive shoes.

oh yeah, if everyone lived by the "dont need a trainer" mentality....that would make the unemployment rate higher....

x2, I'm a bigger guy with arch issues and I have to replace my shoes quite often or my plantar fasciitis starts acting up. And the nicer the shoes the longer lasting they end up being...

But I do agree with the article. Look at Rocky

Agreed on the shoes. You don't necessarily need $200 sneakers, but shoes that provide no support or cushioning can lead to twisted ankles, damaged knees, and back pain. I have a $60 pair of New Balance shoes that I run in. When I'm feeling lazy and run in my Chuck Taylors, my back hurts the next day.

Trainers are good for people who don't know what they're doing. I may hire one myself if I ever join a gym, simply because I'd want to learn how to do things properly. Working out in ignorance can lead to injury, or at the very least, waste your time doing things in a less-effective manner.

I agree about 140% with that article, all while laughing the entire time.

I used to keep in shape by doing sit ups and push ups in my room, riding my bike for miles on end and eating fairly healthy. Then I just got busy with life and taking the time to do all that stuff just took a back seat to other priorities.

Meanwhile, my mother owns a gym, and does she ever work out there? No. She does all her stuff at home too, without looking like a spandex juice monkeyette.
