    Whats a guy to do?

I need to give a little history to the situation before hand.

It all started when i got laid off in November. At the same time my cb went bad and my girl and I broke up. Well i managed to keep my head up and with the help of very good friends was able to keep myself out of a state of depression. Over time I would eventually get my girl back.

Well, afer all of this, I had tried joining the service. I say tried because due to raised education levels i was told i needed college credits in order to get in. So now im back to feeling shitty all over again. After a pep talk and a few side jobs, i get off my behind and start looking into schools. I find one i like and begin the enrollment process. Halfway through, I find out due to it being a private college and the tuition being as expensive it is, i could not get any grants and even student loans would leave me with outrageous monthly payments and unpaid tuition. So at this point I feel like an all in all failure.

Then, my girl decided to leave me again. She says i wasnt devoting enough time to her and when i was it was inerfereing with her education. Now we were together for 2 years and some change and after that ammount of time I am having a great difficuty dealing with all of this. We have been broken up a month and the other day was told she no longer wants us to reason with each other and she wants to move on.

Meanwhile, finding a job in such a small town and being the outsider from the east coast in a small mountain town has made finding a job 3 times as hard. No job, no money to fix the car, and the military not taking me and school ending up being a bust is bad enough. Losing my girlfriend just takes the cake. I havent been able to sleep right, I cant eat right, my family and I dont get along nearly as well as we used to. All in all, I feel im headed straight for depression if I am not already there. With my family not wanting to hear it and my friends all being drunk tonight, I ask fellow cb enthusiast. What is a guy to do in this situation?

I'm 26 and the girl I've had a crush on since 7th grade and have been dating for the past 2 years broke up with me. I feel your pain. I'm fighting for her with every ounce of my being. If you feel it's meant to be with her then just tell her she's worth the fight. Be strong and caring, but don't be needy. I'm a Christian who has done very poorly with my relationship toward God recently. Surprisingly I feel like this has helped me rely on Him more and trust that He has a better plan for me. Be that someone else or just a better version of the same person I was with. I don't know what your beliefs are, but I'll certainly pray for you.

As for the military, it's just going to be hard these days. They're trying to get people to leave voluntarily now that we've pulled out of Iraq. Why did you choose a private school instead of a public community college?

Well the community colleges around my way are in bad areas where i would not want to park the cb during evening hours (taking night classes in hopes of daytime fulltime work) and the others arent good for shit. I found this one in a good area with good programs and ill have a 2 year degree in 14 months so rather then just taking one semester i would have had a degree to fall back on.

As far as the girl thing goes im a catholic and this whole situation has had me praying more then i did in the past. Ive even been to church as well. Ive been fighting for us ever since we got back together as things werent the same and fighting even harder when we broke up the second time. Another thing she says (my quote button doesnt work on my laptop hence no quotation marks) what if we werent meant to be? I always would say what if we are? When she said she thought i was her soul mate and i agreed that she was mine I fell to hard for her because life without her was something i had never considered or even imagined and its hard as hell I cant stand it. I had enough going on before and then this shit just blind sided the hell out of me. i definitley appreciate the thoughts and prayers reps for that and I will be sure to pray for you and your current love life situation.

are you being picky where you apply at? dont hope for normal daytime shifts. that is usually reserved for full timers and full time jobs are extremely hard to find nowadays. i used to go to school during the day and worked at night. you may have to do the same. this way you can go to those community colleges as well. make do with what you got/can!

Well when i got laid off I was told if I was still in town to stop in early spring and he would see if i couldnt get another position there. As for the time I have been laid off ive been applying everywhere possible but finding a job in this town is a mission of its own. Also if the cb takes a dump my mom will be home in time to use her car so she would only be an hour or 2 without a car til my dad gets home

              ont worry about the girl.

Cause if you worry about the girl, then you dont get money and money ranks over everything, it makes you happy and allows you to buy stuff.

and if anyone says anything negative about this post, prepared to be flamed.

              hope all works well.

It sounds like the girl is looking for a way out... whatever you do, she's going to have a reason to end it. I say let her go, as hard as it may seem. You have enough going on in your life now that you don't need to be bothered with a headache like that. I know it's hard... been there myself... and it's a lot easier for someone to say "forget her" than it is to actually do it! Still... focus on you. Try to put the pain of losing her as the pain of something lost, not something you wish you could have back.

As for the military... so much for "sign up for a free college education!" What Jarrett is saying is true... too many people in the military already, now that they've been shipped back from overseas.

For school... have you looked into online classes through your local community college? Online classes don't have a set class time, so you can do the work whenever, leaving you open to work a full time job. Sometimes they're more expensive, but with online classes becoming so popular these days, the prices have to be competitive. Stay away from the popular online colleges though, such as University of Phoenix. They're good, but VERY expensive.

Another option is to take VERY early morning classes at the community college. I work in some pretty rough areas, and I make a point of going to these areas early in the morning. You're unlikely to have trouble with thieves at 7 or 8 am. I know my community college has classes that early.

Finally, you could always move. No girl, no job, not enrolled in school... what's stopping you from relocating to an area that offers greater options? Even though you and your family aren't on the best terms, couldn't you go back to them for a short time? Blood is blood, afterall...

                    1. I get exactly what youre saying about something lost and truthfully, I have never thought of it like that and think thats the best way I have heard to look at it.

                    2. As far as the school and fulltime job goes, the idea I had was work at the golf course again 6-2:30 and have time to get my home work done and mob down to school. I have in fact considered online classes but I am not exactly sure if the military would accept 15 online credits. Plus, i hate this own so much I would love being able to get out of here every day

                    3. I want nothing more then to move. I would love to back to Delaware with all my friends, he rest of my family, and everything i know and love. I tried living on my own in Delaware and ended up right with my family. this is why i would love for nothing else to go in the military. Good benefits, garunteed work, base housing, the whole 9 yards. Hell if I was able to get in I wouldnt be the least bit worried about the love life or anything else going on. While i work at the golf course and go to school, I will be talking to recruiters and as soon as the time comes, trust me, I am out of this stupid little town away from all these low lives

This is very true. During the summer when I'm riding often I'll plan my routes to get me out of the ghetto by 10 or 11 am, hopefully earlier.

Not sure if this is true or not, but:
Did you know crime jumps in the spring?

Edit: OP, got a library? Start racking up some free skillz. Spending time on here will allow you to learn general and maybe correct knowledge about our cars. Libraries let you learn correct information about anything.

you need some kind of college degree to do peace corps. its not like before where they just took any volunteer. now you have to be "qualified". wanting to help people isnt enough anymore. which is sort of dumb but makes lots of sense at the same time

College credits are college credits. As long as you get the credits from a legitimate school, such as a local community college, it doesn't matter one bit if you did it online or in person. In fact, it's unlikely that anyone would ever know. All they'll see is that you completed the classes and earned the credits.

Geoff's suggestion about the library is a good one. As long as you have free time, might as well use it to stuff your head with knowledge! The internet is a valuable source of information as well, if you know the right places to look. Hell, pirate some Rosetta Stone language packages and study your ass off. Learn a new language, and you'll be that much more hireable! I know in my area, knowing how to speak Spanish is a HUGE plus. I have friends that have paying jobs because they are bilingual... jobs that everyone else does as volunteer work. As long as you have free time, use it to improve your mind. The more you know, the more valuable you'll be. Having a degree or certification to prove you have that knowledge is always best... but simply obtaining the knowledge on your own will still prove very useful.

Also, wed3k's suggestion about volunteering is also very good. 1) You'll be using your time productively. It may not do much to help you financially, but it will make you feel better to be productive and active, and working among other people doing the same thing. and 2) You could make connections and gain experience that could be valuable in finding a decent job. Volunteer experience belongs on a resume as well as paid work experience. In fact, it's even more impressive to a prospective employer to see that you have the initiative to put forth the effort when you're not forced to.
Plus, chicks dig a guy that helps the needy
