Looks like there might be an LSX in there. The gusseted cage doesn't look cheap either. Could of been executed better IMO.

Even if there is an LSx in there, it's still a ghetto intake! I'm sure they could've routed the piping down instead of up...

Honestly, an RX7's magic is the rotary under the hood. I know an LSx will make them into rockets, but that eliminates one of the signature features of the car!

I did some research... apparently a 91 Corvette weighs about 3200lbs. The L98 V8 in that car weighs about 600lbs. The weight distribution is slightly front biased (very slight...51/49)
A 13b rotary engine is smaller, and weighs a little over 300lbs.
Drop a 13b into a Corvette, and you have a Corvette that weighs about as much as a CB7. It could be mounted a little further back for a real 50/50 distribution.
I can't find any weight specs on an F20C, but I bet that would be a good one too.

An RX7's intake is behind the passenger side headlight, which leads me to beleive it could have an LS swap in it.

The turbo would be on the driver side if it was still rotary powered, so the filter is still too centered for that.

The turbo would be on the passenger side if it was still rotary, but it does look as if the intake goes straight out and not re-positioned.

Here is a rotary in a Datsun

                            And here is a V8 in a RX7. It's most likely a V8 swap.
