    What kind of brakes are these?

    I saw this in the JY this past weekend on an early 90's Audi...probably an A8? it had a V8 engine in it. This just looked weird. Must weigh a ton.

    That's a brake disk and the brake disk carrier.

            It's the actual brake disk. Their calipers are internally mounted , unlike our Honda's which are external.

                  Google: Inboard brakes.

                  No idea if that's what we're looking at. It just reminded me.

                  37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
                  30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
                  27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

                    well there is a brake rotor behind it. But that hunk of metal seemed to be fastened down on the hub somehow, it wasn't just held on with the lug nut holes

                        less unsprug weight...
