it can take one bad decision to undo your previous good ones
everyone has their own style when it comes to flipping and selling cars. you can find the best deal for a car and not know how to sell it
personally i would rather spend more for a better car than to find the cheap crapboxes. when i do research i also research the demographic for the said cars. those who want to spend less go for the lower end and will penny pinch you till no tomorrow. for the same work, why make less when you can make more. given you have the capital
if you have access to car auctions, even better

Geoff, Im not an experienced car flipper but I think I may be able to give you some advice.
Identify your target demographic. Judging by the cars you posted up, you can imagine the kind of person who will come to your house to buy these types of cars.
That said, and as many others have previously stated, make it look nice. They will be enticed by a clean interior and possibly some lightly polished alloy wheels. As long as it has some shine. LOL
Another thing that I can tell you is that my philosophy is Low-profit, high-volume.
Think about that for a while. Sure you can buy some new Nissan with CVT issues for faily cheap, and even if you pay a backyard mechanic to fix it, you can still make big bucks. But ask yourself, do you really wanna go through all that hassle of people making payments and other related shit.
If you stick to cars that you can sell for under $2500, Id say thats great. LOTS of people can come up with that much cash on pretty short notice. But when you get higher and higher, its just more time the car is in your yard and more hassles.
Also, take advice with a grain of salt. Everyone has stated great suggestions, but its not possible to do all those things and still make money.
And another thing, if you buy cheap cars and lose some money, it wont be the end of the world bro. You win some, you lose some.
That should never discourage a true carflipper, or any businessperson. Imagine what would happen if billion dollar companies shut down whenever stocks got shitty.
And nothing is wrong with breaking even either. You keep the same amount of money, and you learned a lesson that will stay with you for a long time.
So, go out there and just remember to do what feels right. Sometimes you can just stop and think, am I overthinking this??

This thread actually is pretty interesting/informative I must say. I have bought/sold over 25 cars and a lot of the info posted is true. Especially that people LOVE shiny things!! It may sound stupid but a full detail really can make all the difference in selling a car. In some cases it actually raise the sell price quite a bit.

PARTS PARTS PARTS!! you can always sell for parts. I'm in to flipping and parting out havent done it much but I do have experience. Parting will give you a good profit, it won't be fast and it wont all come in at once but if you stick to buying under $500 and buying devent looking cars that only need minor things like paint, dings, brakes, ect.. you should make an ok profit.
I tipically look for:
Decent body
good interior
is it running?
and you have to guess at underlying problems
Theres always something else. But primarily it has to be cheap. If the body isn't great but the car runs and only needs minor work and the paperwork is in order its a great car to flip. If the engine is crap or the paper work is bad or nonexistent but the body and interior is good then it's a great parts car.
for parting: wheels, engine {if its good(this applies mostly if you find a wrecked car with good engine)}, dizzy, alt., seats, hood, fenders, windshields, windows... this will sell quick and by the time you sell this you probably just made your money back.
other stuff like door panels and other interior parts and pannels wont sell very easily on craigs or locally you have a better chace on ebay.
as far as the shell take it to a recycling plant you'll get some money out of it.
oh and auctions are your best friend.
that's my .02
that being said i think flipping or parting is only good as a side gig. It wont generate enough money on a small scale to support you. It's risky and the profit is marginal most of the time if you even manage to make a profit.

As for the price, definitely when I start (and maybe continuing) I don't plan to go very high. $2500 - $3500 sounds about the highest.

I haven't forgotten about the homemade TSC. I need more money to start on it... money I could get from flipping cars?
Also, in the near future I plan on getting an H23 IM. No sense in building drive by wire (first step) for an IM that I'm just going to throw away.

27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

Geoff, give me some specs on the Passport.
I used to have an Isuzu Rodeo and I loved the damn thing. They're hard to find now, and I'm not sure how parts availability would be, but they are a very nice vehicle for what they are.
I had a 1991 LS with the GM 3.1 V6. Had almost 180k miles on it before the motor started to knock.
