    More electrical help please

    Read this: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=178768
    I have 2 questions:
    1. These circuits. When I hit the bottom one, they both trip and short lights. I can turn them back on, but I think that's only because all the lights are gone.

I want to test for voltage drop between each light, that way I can see if there's a short. The leads on my multimeter are long enough to reach, but I don't know what setting I should have it on.

    2. I can't tell what these wires are, so I grounded them anyway. Any way to tell if they should be hot?
    MRT
37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

Lots of DIY videos specifically for our car

Please read the following very carefully.
-If you do not know what setting to put your DMM on to test the voltage drop PLEASE DONT CONTINUE WITH ANY ELECTRICAL WORK

-If you DONT KNOW what a wire is then DO NOT GROUND OR ATTACH IT TO ANYTHING

-You do realize 120/240 WILL KILL you. I also assume you dont have insulated screwdrivers or proper PPE (personal protective gear).

-Please stop at this point in your project and hire an electrician.

Ya Geoff, you can be a pain in the ass, but i dont wish any illwill on you.

I feel like your kinda pushing it.

I mean, you successfully pulled off your other diy, but don't push your luck man.

          1. This seems to be substantially different from the other one.
          2. On topic doesn't have a place for this
          3. I don't want to register for a different forum for each question. I usually ask my normal forums, then go to a specialized forum.
          4. There aren't any lights in my laundry room. I want to fix that.

          1. But I want to. It's a learning experience and it's so much cheaper then a real electrician.
          2. Wouldn't it be better to ground it rather than having it hang and possibly touch the middle part?
          3. Only if I'm a wimp. Real men take electrocution like men.
          4. I don't really want to. Can't you just tell me?

Also, why is there 110/120/220/240 in my box, and how is it stepped down? I know it's 220/240 coming in, but under the main is it 110/120?

I'm actually surprised you unblocked me

I really just need to finish this off. I'll probably let a real electrician wire in the 200 amp wires.

Let me get this straight, circuit 5 stays on by itself, but as soon as you hit circuit 7 they both trip?

If you think there is a short, check continuity on the load side between all wires. Hot to ground, and hot to neutral. You should have continuity between the ground and neutral because they should be bonded together in the panel.

Another thing to do is disconnect all lights/ outlets on the problem circuit and then turn the breaker back on. If it holds, shut it back off and start hooking things back up on at a time until you find which one is causing the problem.

As far as those two yellow wires, trace them up to where they enter the panel. See what other type of wires they are grouped with.

BTW, I see at least one code violation within that panel.

Geoff, you aren't qualified at what your trying to do, and you don't know what your doing either.
Get an electrician in to fix it.

Closed, because we will not be held responsible for you following any miss-information that could be given by others on here.
