i forgot the name of the product i use but its a red bottle thatt connects to your garden hose and its found in the garden section of any store like walmart and target. its designed to kill a SHITLOAD of bugs in the yard including fleas and ticks and it works great my backyard was infested with TICKS and fleas after i sprayed that there were no more tick infestation i still have fleas so i still use it but the ticks were the ones hurting my dogs also you should bath your dogs with a flea and tick shampoo to kill the fleas on them

Edit: its called home defense max...

Straight From A Veterinarian!!!!!!! Ask your vet for CAPSTAR pills for your dog Give it to the dog as prescribed and let him walk out in the yard. The fleas will be attracted to him a jump on they bite as die. easy...i think they are $5 a pill tho...

Seven (Not spelled like that) is pretty good. So good in fact, I've been hearing rumors it will be illegal soon. I believe it comes in a red bottle.

While I lived with my old room mate before I got married we had fleas very badly.

You have to be dedicated. If you don't have full access to your house every single day and have at least 30 minutes every day to work on getting rid of the fleas, then you will not get rid of them. By full access I mean a room mate who who doesn't want you in their room messing with stuff. Something like that.

I'll tell you what I tried that DIDN'T work.

            I tried:
            -Carpet powders
            -Bath Soaps
-The cheap flea drops that go behind the shoulder blades
            -The expensive flea drops
            -The bowl of water trick
-Shaving the pets (3 cats at the time)

What I eventually had to do was this.

            1) I isolated my personal pet in my room so that fleas can not spread from one pet to another. I could not control how my room mate took care of his two cats which is also why I separated my cat from the rest.

            2) Get a really good vacuum cleaner. I got an older Rainbow model off craigslist for 100 dollars with all the attachments and carpet washer. The water holds everything except things that float really well, like packing peanuts or crushed up Styrofoam. Fleas stick to water really good.

            3) Shaved all the pets and bathe them afterwards with some flea killing shampoo (not a lot since they don't have fur anymore, you just want to lather them up to kill any remaining fleas on the skin). If your animals are bitten badly they will bleed in the shower, which is heart breaking.

            4) Dry your pet off IMMEDIATELY and take him/her to a flea safe zone for about day while you have a professional pest service come and bug bomb the entire house. This works well while people are at work. I went with Blue Chip Pest Services and they were very nice.

            5) Set up a routine pest service schedule for spraying for bugs around the house, in the house and in the lawn. Make sure your pesticide is pet friendly. And DON'T quit the service just because the fleas may go away for a little while. Again I used Blue Chip Pest Service for the regular stuff as well. It was around 380 dollars a year.

            6) After the bug bombing you can bring your pets back. I would still keep them separated at this stage.

            7) Do laundry every day. The flea eggs can survive a bombing even with harsh chemicals.

            8) With that amazing vacuum cleaner, vacuum every single day. Vacuum everything. Carpet, couch pillows, corners, anywhere that is dark such as under beds, and especially where the pets sleep. If you don't do it every day you will be in trouble.

That is what eventually got rid of the flea problems at my place. I'd have over 100 bites from my knees down to my feet and I couldn't sleep because they would bite me so bad I had to go sleep in another house. If you've got a real flea problem you may have to do all of this. If it's just your dog your seeing issues with I'd probably try to avoid the flea bombing at all costs. It's not cheap but it worked after about 2 weeks of hard work the fleas were gone.
Been a long time. Still alive...

use zodiac flea shampoo on the dogs. use whatever for the garden. you might also want to wash all sheets (yours and dog beds). if you can then fumigate. good luck. happens to me all the time. out neighbors are horrible with their pets and we have to suffer for it (that and they dont pay their bills so we get new fucking neighbors every other month -_-)
