    Buying BMX...

So long story short I may be selling the CB end of May, and if I do I want to get a BMX bike for the summer.

Its been about 10 years since Ive been on one for any length of time so I dont know current brands and whats good or not, lol. Times move too fast.

But yea, I miss riding and would like to get back into it if I sell the CB.

So anyone have any good ones to look for or what I should look for?

    Thanks!

You mean a bike to ride for fun or transportation instead of a car... ( You said you were selling yours)

If you mean for transportation a BMX would be a pretty bad choice. Unless you have another car.

It would be for fun and to get to work. My work is only 10 blocks away, lol. And I live beside the biggest mall in Calgary so I dont need to go far. So not really for transportation.

Almost all BMX brands on these sites are good quality, obviously the higher the price the better quality but most of the cheaper ones would be perfect for daily commuting.

        https://www.3ride.com/v2/default.asp
        http://www.danscomp.com/

(Go to the complete bike sections in both, bike shops will probably carry the complete bikes.)

Just pick a BMX thats in your budget and post it up here and I could show you some alternatives if there are any

Alot of my bmx buddies ride Sunday, FBM, CULT, Colony and FIT and their quality is amazing. Eastern and Kink do have alot of options though price wise but their quality isn't as good as those brands.

I only rode Free Agent's and Giant's. Well, I had a DK Rage... But that's more of a trail bike. All good stuff though. Free Agent was always my favorite.

Get a Trek, like one of mine:

Also consider a $5000 dual suspension carbon fiber mountain bike. I hear those are nice
            MRT
37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

Lots of DIY videos specifically for our car

Get some awesome wipers! <-- It's a DIY

He wants a BMX... they're just more fun to cruise around on. Lol, I go on 2-hour rides just about every night and there have been a few times I've reached the train tracks in my usual route when the road blocks were just coming down. With my little BMX I can just barely duck under them while traffic gets held up. Can't do that with a sky-scraping mountain bike.

I've been riding a Schwinn I've had since I think 2003 and lately have been looking into a new complete bike from Dan's Comp. Fit is one of my top brand choices, and the prices aren't bad. Just needs a larger chainwheel, the tiny things all these bikes come with are too slow.

They look like granny gears but most BMX's now a days use micro cogs so the gear ratios are just as hard as the traditional Dinner plate to a large rear cog

OHH Look into 24'' cruiser BMX's. Alot more comfortable when you want to cruise but still have the movability of 20'' BMX's. Sunday probably makes the best BMX cruisers and 20'' bikes but they are pretty explensive. Heres my friends $2000+ Model C build.

Really just look for All Cromoly frames/components and if you are 5'9 or taller go for a 21.5'' Top tube.

The reason why I may be getting rid of my CB is because as of now, I have no insurance on it (long Story) so when my plates expire next month I wont be able to afford to get it insured and renewed.

But ive seen a few nice ones on Kijiji, doubt they will be around the end of May tho, lol.

Do these prices seem fair.. I have no clue as im new to these bikes, lol

Sunday is the best out of those 3. The other two are MTB companys. Sunday is a dedicated BMX brand, and you will be the coolest dude at the skate parks

I was looking to put together a new 24" a while back. I am also not familiar with most of the current brands out now but I was thinking about a Crupi or SE retro. After figuring out everything I wanted it was going to be around $2500

                              ... and it's only $3k.

FBM and Sunday FTW. I used a BMX for primary trans for college, plus I only worked about 3 miles from college. It's fun, but it's going to be a PITA the first week or so. lol
