lawl - underpowered computer

Soooo I just upgraded my video card to a 512mb AGP 8x, running 2gb ram, 3.06ghz p4 w/ HT, 250gb hdd.

Just found out my computer has a 220W power supply in it LAWL!

Ran COD4 MW2 last night and it ran fine for a while then all of a sudden the video cut out. Works fine now but I think I shouldn't do that again.

Too bad that game is so friggin sweet. Now I neeeeeeeeeed it.

Is there any way to actually find out how much you need? I just guessed and always erred on the side of overkill.

I too would advise shoot higher, I'm running an 1000w coolermaster unit in my rig, more then I need, one thing that makes me laugh about this unit is the power cable is bigger then my surge protectors power cable lol

I don't know what came stock on my Dell that i used for 10 years.... but the computer i am on now has a 600 watt Eagle Technologies psu.

I should look for an upgrade but it's a shuttle so it's a bit of proprietary PSU

Not much at all. The other down side is that the biggest PSU you can get for this is 300W. may be time to upgrade.

im running a 500w right now and i have a 550w that i had in, but a fan on it started ticking. i should replace it, but my video card only requires a 450w so..

what kind of framerates are you getting on such a classic(nicer than saying old) machine?

ive been playing mw2 recently, and im currently in the process of upgrading my cpu and motherboard. and you definitely need to upgrade the whole system if you cant get a bigger power supply. i have a 550w, and i need to upgrade it. during heavy gameplay, my computer will randomly crash. but only when my video card is overclocked. my psu cant handle the draw considering my cpu is also overclocked.

I think if I upped it to a 300watt it'd do everything I'd need for a while. Then again, I'd really like to upgrade :P

I'm just amazed that I was able to use this system at all running on 220w.
