3d cb problem!

So i went to save my CB7 model today and it ended up crashing 3d studio max. So im pissed I lost a little work, go to open it back up and now the file wont even open. Tried my backup file and same thing. Also tried the auto backup that 3dsm makes and still no go.

Are you going to restart the project if it's lost?
Maybe your 3ds install got corrupted. Can you uninstall and reinstall the program?

Did you save any other backups along the way? Like, can you go back to last week's work? When I'm doing any sort of major project (or even playing a video game!) I save my progress at multiple stages, rotating, so I'll be less likely to lose everything.
Of course, doing that with a 3d model in progress would probably take a good deal of space...

That sucks man, I hate when technology fails, yesterday I cracked the screen on my phone and then my tomtom stopped working, and I have no fucking clue where I am half the time.

Crap!! You didn't happen to save another in-progress copy somewhere like a thumb drive or something? What about the file you sent over to the texture dudes?

This is blowtastic man but having lost hundreds of hours of work in the past due to similar issues (hdd corruption), I got in the habit of every so often, I would make a duplicate backup of the material on my web server. Or quickly attach it in an email to yourself. Juuuuuuust in case anything happened along the way an archive of it would be available. Id recommend you do the same next time you work on such a time consuming creation... having a single "save file" for all of the work combined is very risky!

Sorry to hear, hope you find a copy of it somewhere that you can pick up from... that was really a nice piece of work.

I actually had multiple copies, but when I saved the first one it was corrupt without me knowing, so once i saved my backups they were also corrupt, so when I opened em this morning I got the error's. I have had this happen before which is why i made a couple backups, just didnt think it was corrupt at the time of saving.

As for the model I sent to the texture guy, he had a HD crash and had to format. He's been having tons of issues with his HD as of late so I think he's getting a new one.

Im gonna have to format mine soon as im having other issues too.
