it's a mess when i blow canned air into the computer while it is in my room.. maybe it's a sign that i should dust my room or clean my computer more often lol.. but i unhook everything, take it to the garage .. plug in the air compressor, open the computer and have at it ..

yeah thats good too, but what about the dust that collects in the vent/mounting holes of the devices, or at the open edges of the fans? with an air duster, the only place for it to go is deeper into the units, the one place that it should NOT be... ive just had a number of components die because of it in the past, usually video cards due to a clogged fan (even though technically the cooling fins were clear)

Thats why i go easy with the canned air and really go at it with the hose attachment once in a while.

if the fans are heavily caked in dust, that's what the qtips and rubbing alcohol is for otherwise i just replace them because they are cheap.

So do I. I have a push/pull 120mm attached to the radiator, but it was covered with a dust blanket.

inside of my computer looked like an abandoned house with a thick coating of dust on everything. used the vaccuum with a little handheld brush and did all the inside, removed the fans and cleaned the heat sinks and all the vents. now i don't hear that fan noise anymore
