    my problem with holidays...

crap like valentines day. why should ANYONE wait to take one day out of the year to show a loved one that they care? shouldnt you do that every day? if you really love or care about someone(wife, gf, crush, bf, whoever), you should be showing that ALL YEAR LONG. not waiting til one day out of the year. and its one of those hypocritical holidays too. if your a religious person look it up as i do not want this thread to turn into a bad religious discussion.

then theres mothers and fathers day. screw em both. you should be proving to your parents all the time that you love and appriciate them. not doing bad all year long then say "hey, ima wait til fathers/mothers day to show my mom/dad i love him/her. although ive been stealing money out of their account, sold their car for crack and almost had them killed because of a drug deal went bad in their house that they were against but hey. me telling them i love you one day out of the year should make up for all of that."

Halloween. what....the...motha....fack? really? people used to kill anyone who even got called a witch and people fear ghost and demons all year long but yet they pick one day out of the year to dress up like them.....yeah. nuff said.

then the jolly season....Christmas...ugh. the season where people get injured for trying to enter a store to find a gift on black friday or x-mas sales. seriously? "its the giving season." what exactly is so giving about it? if people were so "giving" all year, the world would be a much more giving place. or at least the states would be. then your lying to your kids too. as long as your telling them "santa brought you those", your lying. ill be damned if ima let my parents lie to me. id rather let my kids know i worked hard to get them that ps3, that go-kart, or that new computer they wanted.

yeah. ive already been called Scrooge. lmao

The Holiday season, as far as people go, pisses me off. Ive noticed it more and more as ive gotten older, how grumpy people get. Really? This is my favorite time of year. Granted, i hate the cold and snow, but i still like the music, the spirit, the movies, getting presents, the smell of snow and fireplaces burning.

Valentine's Day is whatever. I agree with you Shadow.

Mother's/Father's Day also shouldnt exist. They're just fake days.

i read a thing somewhere that said that holidays were put together for the people's benefit. It's just another way to conjur up business and when you dont get someone something for that said day, you feel all guilty and shit. Screw that noise.

exactly man. this season, i dont really like. the music and all that crap urks me. the movies that come on, my shows i REALLY want to watch get cut off for the x-mas movies. i hate that. lmao. like back when that OJ Simpson crap was going on, my afternoon cartoons got cut off because a stupid news show was keeping track of the chase. wtf?

I dont really keep up with too many weekly shows so i cant say anything about that. I like when they do the 25 days of Christmas and show all the good movies like The Grinch, Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer, Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story...those are great movies, lol.

And dont get me started on the music. Mannheim Steamroller. Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The best!

I can live with Valentines day. The two hoildays that I can not live with are Thanksgiving and Christmas. I would vote to get rid of Christmas if i could. I have my reasons.

or u could look at the holidays as a time to spend some special time with ur family.... i love the holidays. even tho i spend lots of time with my family and showing them i care, its fun to have a yearly tradition. christmas and some of the other holidays are some of my better memories of spending time with the fam. stop being so sensitive to something as silly as someone messing with ur tv schedule.

my problem with the whole december month is: i absolutely used to love it when id go shopping, and the cashier would smile and say "have a merry christmas"..now they get fucking FIRED for saying that...and the store gets in trouble for advertising anything saying "merry christmas"...and i find that total bullshit....who gives a shit if theres a few people who dont celebrate it...they're ruinging it for everyone else who does!

For the longest time, Christmas was hard on my family, of ALL the days of the year he could of done it, that was the day my dad chose to leave my mom. He had Christmas dinner with us (at my grandmothers) after he ate, he said he was going home to take a nap, when we got home, he was nowhere to be found. Later found out he moved in with some other bitch.

And I agree, the movies they have this time of year are the best. I think there should be a written rule that if you don't get it any other day of the year, if you have a girlfriend, wife, crush, whatever, she HAS to give up some head on Valentines day. It should be punishable by law if she doesn't. We get the girl in our life flowers, candy, jewelry, what have you. She can give us the SINGLE greatest gift a girl can give a guy, that and some peace and quiet afterwards.

I agree with you on this one. I practice this one regularly. I wine them, dine them and 68 them.

As far as the other holidays, they no longer hold any traditional value, corporate American has traded tradition for a "HOLIDAY SALE".
Think about sales coincide with the holidays.

Lmao. I ain't much worried about my tv schedule. Just a little irritated they put that crap on instead the shows that normally come on.

As far as spending time with family, no one should have an excuse as to why they can't take a day or 2 off to spend with their family during the year. Every year my family from new York and north Carolina would come to my moms house in northern VA and we would have a crab feast. No holiday or crap like that. We just picked a day and did it. And we had a good 40-50 people in the house too.

People use the holidays as excuses to spend time with their family or make up for something they did wrong to a spouse, friend or lover. If I did my girl wrong the next day she would have a rose sitting in her car on her dash waiting for her along with a card. Other times I do it just because I love seeing her smile. But I don't wait for one or 2 days out of the year to show her I love and care for her.

Nor do I wait for one or 2 days out of the year to spend time with my family. I see mom at least a few times a month. I go hang out with my brothers practically every day. And my sister I see every once in a while because she works and doesn't really have a car. So I see her when she has the extra money to rent a car to come down. She has a $150k condo and lives off of noodles and whatever she finds in our fridge. Lol. She only did it because in a few years she'll be able to sell it for $250k or more. Haha. She has the best money sense out of us all.

And 4u2h8me. I REALLY see your point man. Haha. All those are really good.

why cant the holidays be that day that everyone picks to spend together? they already get the day off work, the kids are off of school... and people are generally in a great mood. the holidays are great for my family.

my neighbor (one of 3 nuns) was over tonight and this topic came up. i told her how we would get in trouble at the bank for saying 'merry christmas' and that it 'happy holidays' was required. then she told me a story about how when she worked as a cashier back in the day they got in trouble for NOT saying Merry Christmas! times have changed... its not a giving season, its a buying season. but it is what you make it, really... ignore all the crap around it
