This really shoudn't be in OT. You found the thread you were looking for (and since you mention the rack, I assume you also found the thread that shows how to modify the rack for no power steering...)

Only at low speeds is it more difficult. At higher speeds, the steering feel is much more accurate.
I'm not an incredibly strong man, and I can parallel park my PS-less CB with one hand... and I only cut my belt. I'm told that leaving all the PS equipment intact considerably increases the effort necessary to turn the wheel, as I'm fighthing hydraulic resistance with the non-working pump itself. I don't know if that's true.
Why on earth do you want to make your car steer like a tank?
For better, less impulsive steering response at speed. I get tired of barely touching the wheel, and before I know it I'm changing lanes. I touge alot here in Asheboro, which is quite different then Autox, but is a slightly comparable sport.
I think my 4door cb handles better without it in high speed curves.
Ninja Edit: Some people prefer "Feeling the Road" instead of "Feeling the Fluid"

Ugh, I need to ditch my ps. It's getting worst over the years. Right now it takes a second to kick in at low speeds which is annoying, and does a similar scare at highspeeds making it almost impossible to make a smooth corner.
