    something i saw today

my friend has a dark green 92 taurus SHO, and between him and me theres sorta that slight feeling domestic/import conflict going on (he doesnt like hondas). but anyway usually when i see any dark green taurus it usually catches my eye, but today at school i was walking to class and there was a parked one near me, and the front license plate frame said "HONDA of KINGSTON" on it. made me laugh too bad i didnt have a camera.

I had a 93 manual... it was fast, but a pile of steaming crap.
If Ford hadn't cheaped out on the car it would have been great... and if they hadn't oprhaned them after they were discontinued, they could have been better. But, in all reality, it was the worst car I've ever gotten behind the wheel of.
But it did run a 14.9...

Taurus SHO = Yamaha-made engine So much for domestic!
Still, it is a pretty nice ride... I love the sport version of family cars!

        Ford Taurus SHO
Buick Regal Grand National (yeah, I know it doesn't say Regal, but that's what it is...)
        Honda Accord Euro R
        Chrysler PT Cruiser GT
        Chevy Impala SS

To me, they're more interesting than the souped up econoboxes...

        EVO 8
        SRT-4
        etc...

im sure it was a tradein, but it was funny to see one w/ my "honda" name on it.

yeah the sho engine is made by yamaha, but the tranny is made by ford (what a horrible, horrible idea).

that gen is probly the only good looking taurus there was, and the SHO is pretty kickass, but its really a cheap car. im sitting in the car pulling on its interior pieces... everything is loose and pops apart, same w/ just about all domestics... unlike the solidness of imports. also i really dont like how it feels or drives, but it def. is fast. i have a video of me and him getting up to 125 in it on the highway and one of him nailing the gas up the entrance ramp... should i post?

wasnt the 93 the next gen, the ovally ugly one?

the gen you saw was 92-95, 89-91 was just before it and looked relatively similar. In '96 Ford mady the "Ovalicious" Taurus that many of us are so familiar with - that SHO was a V8 model, again made by Yamaha, but available only in an automatic.
The 89-91 was only available in manual, and 92/95 was optional automatic. 89-95 were 3 liter V6 engines, Yamaha produced, that were quite ahead of their time...
as for the transmissions... well, the manual models all had a habit of throwing their diff pin (which happened to me) and generally self-destructing. The V8 models suffer from a cam gear that likes to separate from from the cam, a problem which Ford has been completely ignoring.
I'll never buy another Ford... I could hardly even get parts for mine, as most dealerships responded to my request with "a SHO? what's that?"
                Anyways, that's my $0.02

wow, u know the shos. yeah im referring to the 92-95, the 89-91 was nastification. 89-95 manuals were 3 liter, autos were 3.2.

i hate fords too, never going to own one.

My dad has a Ford F-150. He loves it. It has been good to us. Not many probs. It drives like a truck, but what do you expect... it's a truck. A long time ago my parents bought a Ford Lynx. It was what you would call an impulse buy. They went to go get new tires for the car they had and ended up buying a new car. Go figure. Anyway, the Lynx gave them problems from the get go. They hated it. They eventually got rid of it. They didn't like Ford after that. My dad was looking to buy a truck in 97' and ended up buying the Ford b/c it was affordable and he had read good things about them. He was going to get a Ram but our Dodge dealer wouldn't come off of the price at all. The Ford is still going strong. He loves it. He really wants a small honda/acura but I think he is waiting until I move out. Ford makes good vehicles but I would definitely say that Honda has got them beat on reliability.
