Texas has emissions in the high-population counties (Dallas, Houston, Ft Worth, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso), and some of the counties surrounding those high population areas. They are a total bitch to pass, and I've seen plenty of newer cars bomb the emissions test. Mine-->flying colors.Former: 90 Accord EX Coupe, 93 10th Anniversary in Frost White
1985 Volvo 245 manual [IPD lowering springs, IPD sway bars, OEM Virgo wheels, 1977 quad round headlights, 1978 grill]

2008 Ford Escape XLT [bone stock]
2015 Toyota Prius Three with solar roof [rear diffuser, Vision Cross wheels... cheaper than steelies!]

- Vacuum leaks (hoses, EGR valve, intake manifold, and carburetor).
- Ignition system malfunction (plugs, wires, coil)
- Faulty computerized engine management and/or oxygen sensor
- Faulty air injection system
- Internal engine problem (burned valves, poor compression)
- Failed Catalytic converter
Hi HC at Idle Test
- Ignition system malfunction (plugs, wires, coil)
- Incorrect air/fuel mixture
- Vacuum Leaks (hoses EGR, Intake manifold, carburetor)
- Incorrect ignition timing and/or idle speed
- EGR valve partially stuck open
- Faulty fuel injector Operation
- Internal engine problem (burned valves, poor compression)
- Inoperative or missing catalytic converter
- Air injection system failure
I would also check your a/f ratio in regards to your oxides of nitrogen .
