imo you should just leave it exposed and get it fixed the right way when it rains youll be in for a shock itll hold water in peel off rust up even more and leave a nice sticky solution on the side of you panel.

      BWHAHAHA!!!!

Not as bad as what I did though, I acutally ended up spraypainting the rust on mine as a temp fix. Acutally ended up really close to the color of the car.

Like I said, it was a temp fix. Gonna be replacing the rear quarter panels outright soon.

i have a roll of white electical tape thats almost a perfect match to the stock frost white color. i temporarily shaved my antenna hole with it, and also i had a couple scrapes on my passenger fender. i taped over them the moment i made them, peeled the tape off over half a year later and the metal underneath was still clean and had no rust

I should say this is not my car.

It was parked next to me at the store.

Oh well if he wants it fixed right he's gonna have to cut all the way around it anyways so its all good if he takes more rust off and leaves sticky stuff.

well if he has the rubber thing on the bottom that little gasket tel him to take it off so that the water can make it way out. That rubber gasket that on the lip of the wheel, wheelwell edge will do nothing but hold water in over time aiding the rust.

I got rust on my rear quarters too. Gonna have a body shop do the big surgery to fix once and for all. The one downside of 4th gens.

take the rear bumper off and see if it's starting to form or not.. and if there is any indication that there is.. then cut a nice chunk out and weld new metal in there.. or a new quarter panel.

the only real way to get rid of the rust is welding new metal in there and sealing it so it will never come back.

Your talking about the wheel well liner. and yes from what I know, that traps water, so I would remove.
