Yay! To add to the pile...

I got a letter from the police today saying my hatchback is "junk"... and it must be removed in 10 days, or I face a $500 fine and 10 days in jail.

For a car on MY property.

MY property that I pay $4200 in taxes a year to this freakin city.

And I'm not allowed to have a project car?

      Is it tagged??

Yes your property, yes your car. City/State does not give 2 shiats about that. If tagged, then no hassle.

Same for me here in Maryland. Have a few cars on my property that are projects. As far as tags, (for me and MD) as long as a tag is visible , no hassle.

That is ridiculous. My family experienced a similar situation with an '86 turbo diesel jeep that we had sitting in our garage. The city told us that we had to remove it, why...I have no idea! Makes me angry though, I wish there was something that you could do, I just don't know what it is.

It's tagged... but with Pat's Virginia tags.

I think I might just register it. It can be registered and sitting, and they can't do a damn thing about it.

Actually... I should put Qs on it! It's over 20 years old!

Interesting, I never really thought of that, but it makes sense!

I know here in WA if a vehicle doesn't move over a long period of time, and is visible to anyone in the neighborhood, it will be considered junk and you will be asked to remove it/fined.

At this point would be useless.

And even w/a cover, they (City/State/Local Authorities) can come onto your property (of course with proper identification) and either lift up the cover to see if tagged (current) and go from there.

Hell, bring it down to me Deev...

Yea. That is true. They do that a lot in Dallas lol. My supra has a nice orange tag from the district lol. But yea you gotta either hide it in your garage if you have one or move it. I think if you move it every few days showing that you do use it you should be ok. The only reason why that would happen would be someone in your hood ratted it out or just a curious officer. I got a ticket in my own hood for parking my car on the wrong side of the road. I always parked that way and I woke up to a damn ticket.

Yeah, my neighbor got one of those tickets... he had his CRX towed home, and the truck dropped it facing the opposite way on my one-way street. The next day, ticket. Kinda sucks! They had to push it to turn it around!

I live in western wa and we have the same laws/rules. It doesnt matter if it is in your garage or carport, I had my first car in my garage, no engine because the car came in pieces. My neighbor saw it come home on a trailer and called the cops on me (12yrs old) to say we had a junk vehicle. It was inside my garage!! lol So my dad and I stacked boxes of jars all around the car and told the police if they wanted to verify the junk car they had to move all the boxes...they just left and never ever bothered us again.
