    Got my F22B DOHC today...questions

    1. It came with a cut harness. Can I disconnect everything and use the one in my car, or do I have to cut and splice?

    2. I'm gonna do a search but what's the deal with the distributor?

    3. It came from an automatic car...can I use the flywheel from my car?

    4. How can I tell if it needs a new timing belt? I bought a GSR belt just in case.

    5. All F/H clutches are interchangeable right? I got a new stock H22 clutch.

Anything else I should change while the motor is out? I got a lot of new stuff on my old F that should changeover (water hoses, TPS, etc)...the only thing I have to do in the near future is change my tranny. I hope my starter is still good.

Anyways me and h22sparkle will be tackling this tomorrow...hit me w/answers and stay tuned!!!

    1. take off that harness and plug in your stock one.

    2. you have a 9293, you have a few options:

    a) There are 3 wires coming from the external coil plug; solid yellow, black/yellow, and black/white. You're gonna have to splice the yellow wire with the black/yellow wire. You can ignore the black/white wire. There's a pic of this at the bottom of post.

    b) you can swap internals between the distributors

    c) get an h23 dizzy

    d) get an MSD external coil and wire it up. It's easy as fuck, but costs money.

    3. take off that holy thingy it has(its like a wheel with a bunch of holes). take it off, then thats where your flywheel goes. make sure you use the bolts from the manual tranny, not the ones that were originally on there.

    4. if the timing belt looks like shit from the inside(where the grooves are, not the smooth side), if it has any type of cracks, I'd replace it. the gsr is gonna be a tight fit(i think).

    5. any h/f flywheel should fit as long as its obd1.

    things you should change:
-fuel rail(use the injectors that came with the f22b, not f22a)
-i had to change my egr valve because the sensor plug was different on mine.
-the front thermostat housing. the one on the f22b doesn't have a spot for the sensor.

if you need any pictures, just tell me. I can go take some real quick.

    other things:
-you CAN run your stock ecu(pt3/pt6/p12)
-if you decide to not change out the fuel rails, then you're gona have to buy some high pressure fuel line so you can extend it to the fuel filter.(jdm fuel rail feed is on the right side, usdm is on the left)

here's the pic of the yellow wire with the black/yellow spliced. I put one of those screw caps on. I suggest soldering them, or doing the same. Electrical tape didnt hold for me.

    *EDIT*

this should be put in a sticky. This is pretty much all the information anyone needs on this swap.

Yea...the info is all over the place. I think you just wrote it though.

When you say change the fuel rail, do I have to buy a new one, or can I swap the one from my F22A?

And it looks like I'm gonna need a new distributor, the one they put on it is toast (broken from what I remember). Will any of the F22A distributors work on this motor?

nope, the f22 dizzy's wont bolt up. I tried that. try getting an h22 dizzy.

and yes, use the f22 fuel rail.

you could always swap your F22A dizzy internals into the new dizzy casing.

let me summarize this entire swap for you: if something doesnt match up right, take the correct part from the F22A and stick it on the F22B. thats IT. this goes for flywheel, clutch, tranny, wiring, hoses, sensors, fuel rail, etc etc etc.

Outside of the dizzy...this doesn't seem like it will be too tough. I can't wait for it to be over

its actually less than an h22 swap. no vtak or extra sensor's to wire in.
if you have actually done all the swaps you claim to have done, you would know this.
or is it too much for ole mister h22 swap specialist?
