i took a look at my insulation over my A/C lines that run next to the passenger-side frame rail (under the battery which lead into the firewall), and it is all worn out exposing the line. it looks to be of foam consistency. is there a specific type of insulation i should use to repair it? would it hurt not to repair it at all? it doesn't seem like it would be in a place that would get hot (as opposed to over the header area). any insight?

home depot has foam pipe insulation thats split down the side, you could get some of that and ziptie it on. just ask at home depot what kind of temps the insulation can handle. not sure how it would affect anything if you remove it completely...

I as long as its not near your exhaust manifold, you will prolly be okay using home depot stuff. The original foam was designed to withstand very high temperatures without melting. unfortunately, Honda does not offer it seperately to order. you may be able to find something on-line specifically for automotive use that will work, but I would definately recommend covering it back up to keep the AC cool in the summer. Those lines need insulated so when they reach your evaporator, they're still cold.
