    Bouncing Idle

I have an occasional bouncing idle. It seems to be occurring more frequently.
My FITV and base idle have already been set, and I just double checked the FITV.
    I've cleaned out my IAC.
I've read these two helpful threads, and will be doing some of the second one tomorrow.
    http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showpost...33&postcount=1
    http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...highlight=fitv

I'm hearing a whistling, which is making me think I have a vacuum leak. The whistling is more pronounced when my fans turn on.
Just now, when I was searching for decaying vacuum lines, when I was to tap the throttle from under the hood, the idle would bounce. After a few minutes, it would stop.
One last thing, and this is what really has me concerned:
Today after getting gas (idle still jumping), I was driving back home, and I noticed my revs weren't falling like they should. I.E. I was idling along at whatever speed I stopped accelerating at. So, if I was to let off the gas at 50, it would stay at 50. Kind of like an automatic cruise control. Other then the above symptom, the idle issues stop when in gear.

Any guesses as to what I should do?
    Tomorrow I'm going to(In order):
    1. Starter fluid around my vacuum lines to see if they're the issue
(replace all if I find one)
    2. Clean out intake(TB) with cleaning fluid
    3. Replace FITV with one of the extras I have
Not really sure what to do after that. I'll poke around with the second linked thread. I guess I could clean the IAC again.
Would a dirty air filter cause this? I have a K&N drop in. It hasn't been the recommended 50k cleaning period yet, but I was planning on doing it this summer anyway.
What size vacuum lines do we have? Anything bad about buying a bunch from Autozone? How many feet is there?

Any help is appreciated, especially if you read that whole thing.

Edit: The whistling isn't immediate. I can hear a sucking sound at first, then it turns into a whistling. I think I might have mistaken that for my distributor in the past.
Also, if anybody wants, I can make a video.

    Today's updates:
    I have no A/C.
The problem seems to occur only when the fans are on, or that's what it seems like.
No vacuum leaks, via starting fluid
IAC appears to work correctly, I cleaned it and the FITV.

New idle, I'm uploading a video. You'll see what I'm talking about.

Not as easy to hear it as I thought It'd be.

Did you check the IAC? They do sometimes break. I hooked mine up and it made a slight popping noise. Not sure if that's good or not. My idle also bounces in the same range as you, but it wasn't doing it when I filmed that.

When I cleaned out my FITV I got a decent amount of dirt out of it. The upper seal also looked like it had mold on it.

Seriously doubt they'll have one. But if it works, then go for it! Let me know how it turns out.
            Edit: They do! For $250....

The only things I can think of off hand that you haven't already covered are spray starting fluid into the vacuum box above the charcoal canister if you didn't hit that spot. Swap out iac for a junkyard one to see if there is an improvement. I only say that cause it doesn't seem to really make a difference when you plug and unplug the iac. Take the throttle body off and make sure nothing is clogged/gunked. Air boost valve maybe? And not sure if this applies to you cause if I'm not mistaken you have an a4 but when I swapped manifolds and put in a pt6 ecu my car ran like shit. Idle bounced sometimes and a dog shit idle. Seemed like a vacuum leak but come to find out a transistor in the ecu fried I think its more common in pt6's but you could check. Your problems sound a lot like what I was going through. Hope this helped some

I halfheartedly sprayed into the vacuum box. Tomorrow everything else will get a good cleaning, if that doesn't solve it I'll get idle parts from a junkyard.

best of luck to you. I know my past idle problems have gotten me to the point where if my car had a face, I would punch it. Just remember how wonderful that smooth 700 rpm idle feels.

I have a normal idle, sometimes.

I'm not sure which is worse, idle, or no A/C?

Yeah my ac doesn't stay charged very long. A month max. Not a big deal in Ohio. Now that I'm in Arizona I can't stand it. I don't feel like replacing the pump though. It's in the worst fackin spot in the bay.

I'm going to check that. Both times I cleaned my IACV I didn't bleed. Lost quite a bit while it was warm. Lots o hot coolant sprayed every where.

Actually, thinking about it that might be why my A/C isn't working! Or it could just be wishful thinking Now I'm really looking forward to doing this after work
