ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Painting rims?

Hey, just have some questions on painting rims. I would like to paint mine a bronze or gold color. There is one rim that has some scratches on it and a few tiny dings, is there any way to get rid of these. (Rims are alloy painted grey - 6 spoke Eagle Alloys) Also can you just paint a rim and then clear coat it or does it HAVE to be powder coated and baked? Any help would be great.

    Thanks, Chad

either way painting is fine...obviously powedercoating it would look better...if you are going to paint it, make sure to strip the paint first using aircraft stripper
    Yeah, Preludes

if you plan on keeping the wheels for awhile, i suggest powdercoating. looks cleaner and will last longer. and you can customize the color and amount of gloss.

most aftermarket wheels come painted... if you do it well and take your time, painting them will look pretty good. as far as fixing flaws... bondo

usually any car part stores, specialty paint stores, automotive stores will carry it.. i've even read that walmart carries it..

i'd recommend specific stores, but canadian ones are all different!

I used duplicolour graphite and then clear, no stripping required.

Use index cards to mask the rim!

yeah i used the same thing^^^^ i lightly sanded whats was already on there. if you dont sand paint wont stick well. use a fine grit, (JUST ENOUGH TO SCUFF IF GOOD NOT GOUGE) dont remember what i used. then i painted graphite and then clear if you tke your time it will look good. i used the stripper on one wheel and it took all day for one then i did 2 in one day the way i just said. hope this helps. i need to get my lips smoothed out too and polished heres a pic click to make bigger

i also used duplicolor graphite.. light scuff, no aircraft stripper (only because I couldn't find any)..

as for index cards to mask, i found running wide masking tape around much easier

Red scotch-brite pad to scuff....all info including video is available on their website.

I found masking tape difficult to use accurately, to ensure both sides of the lip gets painted. YMMV. If your wheel is really open pattern, paint both sides!

                            Sorry for the dirty rim....
