ok well i went to a body shop today, to get an idea on how much it would cost to get some of the rust taken care of (which is definately worse than it looks in pics)
the guy happened to own a 93 accord, so he knew exactly what i was talking about, and he gave a general idea of $500 per side, not including the body parts that i cut from a car in a junkyard, which seems high, but that's being done right, and being painted.
im really not about to spend another $1500 on my car to take care of rust, being a poor freshman in college. i spent $4500 for the car and engine, then however much on parts.
i think i made my decision to maybe DIY some of the rust, and drive the car how it is for a few years, until i have a job and good enough money to buy a very good condition, rust-free EX from down south.
im going to still proceed with most of my plans for the LX, just, its gonna forever have some rust- when i am able to get a new cb7, i will swap just about everything over, the engine, interior, tails, headlights, and other future parts that I add.
kinda sad IMO, but this car really isnt worth busting my butt to get into perfect condition, and i cant sell it with my brand new H22 in it. its gonna last me for a while until i can make the transition (hopefully 3 years max).
just thought id let the world know of my plans. comments?
500/side with paint? That's cheap compared to what I've been quoted based on Accords that have had things done to it on autobody sites on the internet. I know that's a lot for you...but it would be done right and you wouldn't have to hassle with another car.
Now when you said metal cut out, would that include under the doors and the whole wheel well? And by paint is that just the area?
For my car that definitely seems worth it. I was budgeting like 3K for the rust work, but for like 1200, I'll totally have that done this summer. I can't live with my rust anymore...

it does seem cheap, but thats just for the bulk of the rust. the rest of the car is still rusted, part of the underbody, bolts everywhere, rust, rust... the 'hassle' of another car doesnt bother me, it would be fun swapping everything over... paying $3k to get the car completely smoothed out and painted how i want it IS a hassle, when i could spend like $4k(or less, i think) on a completely rust free car.
Originally posted by cpmike eh, i dont have a problem with it. im doing a whole interior swap soon, and i just did an engine swap... wont be too bad
What are you doing to your interior? If you are changing colors, do you still have your stock mats? And if you do, woudl you be interesting in selling them perhaps?

CPmike hey did u connect ur accord Ecu or the prelude ECU...and also how did u connect ur hole dietributer cap thing..u know external or internal.....thanks....
prelude ECU, the distributor connects up like normal, except you leave the external coil plug disconnected with its yellow and black/yellow wires spliced together.

thanks my motor came with the top half of the header all the way down to the flexpipe sticking out of the back, so yeah, i got the whole bottom half too.
