    Need to buy new brakes?

My brakes started squeaking noticeably a week ago (no money so it was ignored). I wanna look for my own parts so i don't get shafted by a mechanic shop. I have a friend that will do the work (licensed mechanic). I have no idea what brakes to get. Oh and when i hit the brakes hard i get a good bit of front end wiggle, think i need rotors too! What parts do i need? never dealt with brakes before...

EDIT: on a budget here, im talking cheap oem, not brembo.

    You need pads and rotors.

Actually OE replacement Brembo rotors are quite affordable. I have them on the front of my 3rd gen Accord. They were around $36 a side.

Fourth one down. Brembo rotors $45 each. Not that Im saying "get these" just an FYI.

EDIT: Sometimes with cheap pads they will just start to squeak for no apparent reason. I noticed in the past that I would spray the brakes off at the car wash and it would go away for a couple weeks. If you know its been a long time since they have been changed then its safe to assume that they are getting bad. Shaking in the front end when braking is a warped rotor or rotors.

Get Duralast pads from Autozone. Take them back as often as you want.

As far as Auto Zone, if they are lifetime warranted rotors then you can do that whenever you want. But if you take them back right before the warrantee expires saying they are bad even though they are not then your technically stealing. Some people do that but it’s not right.

250 is pretty cheap. with all the work involved in replacing 4 lug rotors.

You can get cheap rotors, but the first time they get hot and then a little wet they will be warped. Sometimes just getting them hot will warp them. And shaking or violent shaking in the front end is annoying and can wear other parts.

Cheap pads almost always squeak. And good pads and cheap rotors aren’t good either.

The brakes that were on my 91 when I got it were ok, they were cheap but in good working order. One day I got off the freeway (about 75mph) and came to a somewhat quick stop because of traffic. The car wash I was going to was right off the freeway. The first thing I always wash is the wheels and wheel wells. And just that warped them and they were almost new Brake Best rotors.

rotors were probably 25 each and pads were 50. but thats all for a acura rl and odyssey so im not sure about a stock accord. probably really cheap. they sell pads at autozone for 15 for a cd5 so im sure its not more lol. but fuck cheap pads and rotors n shit. the good stuff lasts longer.
