I don't shoot raw I should jpeg because it takes up less space on my cards. Raw is somewhat better than jpeg because it doesn't throw away information to edit the images in photoshop. Most photos come out grainy in photoshop after you edit them if their jpeg. But for me I don't have to worry about that because I shoot it right in the camera so I won't have to use photoshop at all. I don't use auto on the camera I do all my settings manually, that's how I was taught. D40 is a good start man!! Keep me posted on your improvement. If you ever need any help pm me, I'm always down to help the next person. Hope all is well.. deuces!!

Yea I would love to shoot in Raw but with that an L I can only take like 40 or so pics on my 2gig on max res as I recall need to double check. But yea it takes up crazy memory. Why dont they make an external hard drive or card deal that you can use! IT would make life easier haha.

I shoot alot of weddings so that's about 2k pictures just for that day. Imagine shooting in just raw and they trying to upload those babies lmao.. that would take FOREVER. Luckly I have the Nikon D200 (just updated to the new D300) but I invested in the wireless uploading so while im shooting my camera automatically transmits the images to my computer that I have in a closet or something. Technology is the bomb hahaaa

If you want to get into photography, I'd suggest a trip to the library or lessons. It's not something you want to just jump into or you might end up wasting a lot of money if you decide it's not for you. A basic D40 with a kit lens (not including a memory card that will hold more than 16 images) will end up costing you anywhere from $500-650. Digital SLR cameras aren't cheap.~If everybody you knew jumped off a bridge...the bodies would pile high enough to break your fall if you jumped after them.~
