Yep, I agree .. this man has it right .. ^

You can also make adjustments in camera using your *parameters* ..
I believe you should have 3 to choose from .. set them differently depending on *scene*
and you'll have them to dial in when needed .. or, you could also adjust white balance,
and play with exposure compensation .. white balance is all too important when in Manual.

I guess it's more the reason that I shoot most of everything I do in AV or Tv modes.
I use the AV mode when I know I'll need some DOF .. and I wanna be consistant
at that apeture for a specific job .. or, I'll go into Tv mode if I need the speed,
and don't care too much about DOF ...

The XT is also a nice camera in regards to higher ISO values .. so don't be afraid
to shoot at 400 .. sometimes our scenes demand the light .. and in using a higher speed,
all the rest like DOF, shutter, and saturation of colors just sometimes *pop*.

Also .. don't be afraid to keep the size of your images to somewhere in the 800 to 600 range.
It uses alotta bandwidth on little sites like Deev's pride and joy
and at 800x600, thats a big enuff image at 72dpi for most anyone ..

Keep up the great work .. and lets see what happens when you bump it up to 400 ISO.

    A Hui Hou !!!

Thanks for the tips I will keep that in mind. Usually daytime I use around 100-200 ISO and I bump up if needed. But at night I run up to 800 and very rarely 1600. I was just testing to see how the camera would react. That was actually my first true test taking photos at night with no tripod. Just wanted to see the limits of my camera what I can play with and see how far it can go and how stable i can be ha. Didnt work out to well but I learned from that. I will be sure to try 400 during daytime and see what results that net me. I will also need to dial in the user preset as you mentioned I always forget lol.

Ya. The stock EFS 18-55mm isnt the best lens out there (no anti shake) but it does its job for now at least. I hope to upgrade some lenses soon. I will ask my friend in carbondale. She has a 350 with a few lenses go try them out and see how I like them. Might get some snow pictures in or something when I go back up there in January. Might take some photos tomorrow at night again so I will update this thread. Keep the tips flowin!

Ya. I know they are expensive and its nice to look at but no cash to buy it lol the Canon 70-200mm I looked at was 600 lol at some photo store I was like damn! Ill just take hers and test them out haha so I can see what I like out of them and what works with me when taking photos. I should ask my other friend he uses a lot of Minolta products but he might have some SLR canon products laying around gotta check up with that.

Ahhhh, the joys of using a Minolta 5D with built-in anti-shake! Every lens I use becomes an IS lens! Now, if I could just convince them to lower the price of the new Sony Pro-spec DSLR when they release it...

yes they do get very expensive, especially the IS lenses and even more for the L glass from canon. that was one of the reasons why i went with Nikon. Im not a pro with a fat bank account and for my needs it was more affordable and still provides amazing results. Soon ill be picking up a 55-200mm VR (vibration reduction) lens from nikon for $200
