Night shots with Canon Powershot A620

I have a Canon A620 7.1MP, great camera, works great, have had for a year
still havent figured out how to take good night shots, like the pics come out ultra dark, or with flash super bright. how can i level this to take good pics ?

put the camera in manual mode and read the owners manual.... honestly this is the best way for me to tell u because all cameras are different in how they distinguish shutter speed, aperture, etc.... so basically when u figure out how to adjust exposure(shutter speed, and aperture) when u figure that out turn the flash off and take some longer exposures.... i hope this helps....

i know how to adjust the shutter speed, and i think you probably are right about that too.
i have manual mode and AV mode, which is shutter priority mode i think
      thanks

Readint the manual helps a lot. And just going out there playing with the camera helps too. Personally I read part of the manual then gave up...So I started runnin around playing with the camera and learned it that way.

Shutter priority, tripod (or stable surface, out of your hands), flash off, set the shutter speed to something longer...start at say 1/4 second and increase or decrease depending on how the shots come out. Take lots of shots using different modes (ie, changing shutter/aperture manually)

where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

My point-and-shoot has a manual "ISO" setting, I use that and turn the flash off.

I just did a quick search and found this:

photography-on-the-net search for the forums on the internet. Its a really good canon based site. I am on there. Some really good pictures and helpful information. But search before asking.
