So I have been pondering picking up a 5Dc in the near future, but I am not sure if it's still worth it.

I only have a t2i, which id be keeping as backup mainly because it has some features the 5dc doesn't(HD Video/ live view etc) and also because my SIL bought me a 55-250 that I don't want to get rid of, but it's EF-S.

All the other lens will most likely work with the 5dc that I have(besides the kit lens 18-55)

My nifty fifty will, and my MF lens should all work adapted as they do now on my 550d.

Ive been reading and some people say that its pointless as it will start to be harder to find parts for it and the newer ff are so much better, but honestly, im going to be hard pressed to afford a 5dc.....no matter how good a deal, I cannot afford any other ff canon out there.....

I see a lot of other people say that going 5dc after a rebel was the best thing they ever did yadda yadda.....

so I guess im wondering what the OG who have been ff forever and have more knowledge then me think about this.....

should I pick up a used 5d and play with ff or should I hold off until I can afford a newer camera(which might never happen lol).

Ive been singing the praises for years and you wont be surprised to hear me say that my 5dc is still my favorite camera I own. I have owned every 5d and the 5dc is still somehow very special. Is it a perfect commercial photography camera any more? no. but for a very editorial look about pictures its pretty amazing. I will never not own one again. canon/people will still service them by the way.

I know, your feelings about that body are the #1 selling point. I know you've personally shot on all the others, and STILL prefer it.

Usually id chock it up to it just being you, but others have said on the internet, the same damn thing.

No matter what, in the end, there is something unmistakeable about the classic and people refuse to put it down. That speaks volumes to me, because I know other newer bodies are really good.

I know my other problem is going to be ff demanding more of my glass, and that's ok, because I don't want be bothered researching bodies for a while.

Let's face it, im a hobbyist. Guys like you and Jayson who get paid for this stuff, are demanding of your stuff, and need to invest in it.

I really think picking up a 5d would be it for me. A 550d and 5d, what more could I really need?
Only thing I might do is swap a 7d for the 550 for the extra focus points, speed, and sealing.

After that, it's just collecting glass.

I would love a 24-70L I right now, but it would be a waste on a crop, and I just don't have $1100 lol.

Idk, that's how I feel. I think it would do me well.

Only thing im a little worried about , is low light. Not sure how well that is compared to my 550.

Ya, that menu is prehistoric but that stuff doesn't bother me, as long as it's arranged well and easy to navigate, which it pretty much is.

I just read the entire review over on DPreview.

Against the 20D, it held up. Only real downside was it's revealing the good and bad of lens, and some other nit picky shit.

Im excited for a real viewfinder!

I think I'm also going to like the uncroppedness lol.

Im tired of hearing "why so zoomed in" from friends and family hahahaha.

I prefer primes. I don't really need zooms, except for outdoor wildlife etc and I don't shoot that a lot.

Im going to be doing mostly portraits and landscape/cars/city life for the near future.

As always, photographing will commence and samples will be shared.

Ill see you all on the other side

Congrats! Bout damn time son ..

The biggest difference for ME, was in the actual printing of an image.
5D just blew my 30D away. HOWEVER! When I had that .. Oh, I dunno, you know ..
that PERFECTLY lit and PERFECTLY exposed 30D capture, it WAS insanely insane.
I still use my 30D from time to time. I dunno, I find the pop-up flash very convenient lol!
                  I don't own a P&S, so .. when I need a quick-flash set-up .. and I'm NOT making a 16x20 or larger,
I'm not really losing anything for simple eBay, face-book, or any internet use.

I'm simply blown away though by the 5D when I do make an enlargement upwards of 16x20 - 20x24.
And this is coming from an ole school film guy lol. Still though, IMHO anyway ..
I'd take my 6x7 format Pentax any day and twice on Sunday for making 20x24prints.
But if I'm shooting something fast for the internet without an art director and a deadline over my head,
the 30D is an amazing, AMAZING lil bitch! Besides, I'll NEVER sell it now ...
It's value has hit rock bottom and it's MINT! Prolly still less then a thousand on the shutter count.
And she's a lovely lil back-up to any camera, let alone my 5D's ..

Besides, I love the crop factor when I'm using my 400mm ..

You're gonna love the 5D files when you open them .. glad you made the upgrade!

                    Ya Im excited.

I kept on toying with the idea, and in my planning, assumed id sell my t2i to offset the price...

I also figured id need a 5d with the 24-105 kit lens....which really bumps the price...

then I got in MF lens, and got some pretty solid glass(mainly the Yashica ML 50 1.9 and the rokkor-x 50 1.4) and then It dawned on me that the 5ds were just in my reach and I could get away with keeping my rebel and shooting mainly with the 5d.

I get to keep all my glass, aquire FF, and still get to use my triggers/flash units etc.

I do prefer SD cards to CF, and thankfully I have an old CF card that a friend never took back, but it's all good.

Once the wife signed off on it, I practically ran to submit the order lmao.

Im still waiting on that damn Tokina 24mm 2.8. That will have to suffice for Wide angle since my 18-55 efs wont work.

Ill have 24, 28(2), 50(3), and an 85-210 for the 5D. Not a bad start. In a year or so, when I have some extra cash, ill have to try and bridge them.

On the truck, out for delivery!

Should have called out today. They found a dummy in one of the housing units, and so I Spent my morning herding inmates into the gym.

Could have been home waiting for my 5d lol.

                              haha.

                              Yea.

Between yesterday and today they brought in k-9s and found a plethora of shit, from cell phones to drugs, etc.

                              Fun fun!

On a sidenote, my 5d came in yesterday.....I messed with it a bit last night and took it with me to work today to try and get some shots. I got the Yashica 1.9 50mm mounted.

So far it's lovely. I fucking love the viewfinder, I didn't know they came that big LOL.

The need to not backup indoors is also nice lol.

Haven't uploaded anything yet, so I have yet to see the images on my screen.

The only lens that is AF is my Canon 50 1.8 .....worked good.

Here's two of my better shots thus far with the 5d.

Still trying to get used to the menus. Also the ISO is tripping me out, I use to set it to auto ISO unless I had a specific need and this body doesn't have auto ISO to my knowledge.

                                Still got practicing to do!

Both taken with my Yashica 50ml 1.9 btw.

I can see the vignetting lol.
