I haven't tried this bouncing thing yet! Do you bounce when you shoot clubs?

... sorry if i've asked you this a million times before.

thanks for the feedback yea the first one was a handheld macro shot with my new lens. could have been sharper. actually thats me in the last shot hehe. It was shot by my sister and i told her to apply the rule of thirds for it rather than sticking me, the subject, in the middle.

my moon pic, and post your moon pictures =]

i took this with my Sony cybershot DSC-H50 camera. it's not a bad camera..
        check it out

        ISO125
        0EV
        125 F4.5

not quite sure what all of those mean but i know ya like to know the settings.
        i'm still learning =]

i got like 20 pics but this is the best one and that i liked. i took this from my kitchen window, it was late and i didn't feel like going outside. i guess it's not too bad, from my past attempts to take pics of the moon

        feel free to critique =]

        and post your moon pics

Nice moon shot. I don't think it needs its own separate thread though, everybody posts their pictures on this thread since this one is the most active.

I wish I would be able to, but for some reason its bad luck for asian cultures to do it...my parents are superstitious.

thanks. i didn't know if a thread was a good idea or not and yeah this is an active thread heres a few more i dug up. i gotta go around and take more pics =] and get a few off my memory card..but anyways heres some older ones that i've had for a while (same camera h50)

^those were taken at almost full 15x zoom and no tripod
heres one of my gf that i like

all of those were auto settings, and [non-edited too] i didn't get into adjusting settings until the moon one i took =]

and why is it superstitious to take a picture of the moon in Asian cultures? i dated Asians and never heard of that

                this is bounced light....

its basically pointing the flash head at the ceiling/wall so the light bounces off and gives u a more soft quality. the reason this happens is when light is coming from a smaller surface its sharper(think a maglight, and variable size output) and when it is wider its softer. so when u bounce the light off a ceiling it spreads the light out and throws it back down at the subject, but from the ceiling its a HUGE panel so it is super soft.

the shot above is more along the lines of direct flash. Bounce is almost impossible in almost all nightclubs do to the fact that the ceilings/walls are usually really far away, and or usually a dark color, which makes bounce not work. they do however sell bounce cards which change the quality of light slightly, which attach to a flash head. the one used above coupled with the fact that it was 2 flashes being used made the light look less like a snapshot wioth a built in flash. what i did was point the on camera flash directly up with the built in bouncecard on the 580EXII pulled out to bounce some light foraward, while the flash in my hand had a lumiquest pocket-bouncer on it. the Pocket-bouncer goes on the head and gives the flash a slightly larger surface area for the user to bounce light downward onto a subject. the other important part of the image above was that the off camera flash was off camera and held towards in front of the subjects faces(this case camera left) which makes them the most imprtant aspect of the image. off camera flash is what makes the image tho, because getting a flash off a camera makes it less obvious that flash was used at all...... sorry i know i typed wayyyy too much. hope this clears up some confusion.

Oh nice. Macro lens takes some getting used to I bet, really narrow dof. Nice pick up.

Well she did what you asked! gotta give it to her.

I think we should all make our own threads, like how we do with member rides threads, but like our portfolios or so.

                      Know what I mean?

                      And nice moon shot Chris.

Theres no need to start your own thread. Theres an "online photo gallery" thread. All you do is sign up with a website that hosts pictures like flikr, photobucket or whatever and just give me the address to it and i'll post it up on the Online Photo Gallery.

I don't have flickr. I'm too lazy to even make one with all the pictures I have.
