try diffrent light settings on the camsome cars have wings cuz they look cool.
some cars have wings cuz they increase efficiency.
some cars have wings to keep them from taking flight.

Read your instruction manual on the camera. That will help you out the most. Night time pics require a longer shutter time and a tripod so it can hold still. Read the instruction manual and it will help you out a lot more. Also decreasing noise will take out the pixelation.

If you are able to change the ISO setting manually that would be nice. Do not put the ISO setting to auto if you want to shoot in night environment because the camera will choose the highest ISO setting and usually there will be noise. The highest the ISO number the more noise will come out. I think most of the latest model Digicam have manual setting for ISO. Just like you said, a tripod would be the next best investment.

What mode were you shooting in?
NEVER use any of the preset modes when you're actually trying to take good pics, especially at night.
Learn what the shutter/apeture does and learn your camera.
The "pixels" you are seeing are not "pixels", its noise. Noise occurs when your cameras lense is set really high.
Go in your manual mode, and set the ISO to the lowest it can be.
Also, set your white balance, MANUALLY. Dont choose any of the presets.
