birds in fresh snow, let me know what you think

it snowed quite a bit today at my grandparents house, so i decided to use my grandpa's sony DSC-828 and start snapping some images of the birds around their birdfeeders. this camera is really wierd (it tilts?) so i just left it on the auto settings and took the pictures. here are two i'm fairly happy with. i adjusted the levels very basicly in paint shop pro and i fucking hate that program. i used it for the first time today, but i'll never use it again if i have a choice. anyway, here are my pictures. let me know what you think!

There's a lot going on in the first picture. I guess it's a little hard to tell what the subject is.
I'd like it more if there was a more defined subject. I don't really find my eye being directed to any single point.

The second picture is cool, imo it would've benefited from a frontal view the bird, rather than from the back.

it isnt an SLR, the lense doesnt come off, but it has manual zoom and optional manual focus. it is pretty much a really nice point and shoot with great glass.

By the way, I really don't know what I'm talking about, so put very little/no value into my comments.

The DOF makes it look like a DSLR was used. Nice. Camera takes video too, yes?

im sorry but DOF? i dont know what that means? i personally like the first picture, but i cant put my finger on why. technically it is not a great picture, but the color, the soft background, and the crispness of the foreground really do it for me. the second picture would be better, as said above, if the bird was facing towards me, but you have to take what you get with nature. it was fucking cold too!

oh i forgot to add, i cropped quite a bit out of those photos and the quality is still really good. i am very happy with this camera.

                      DOF - depth of field.

Basically refers to how much (based on distance from lens) of the picture is in focus
