Differences between two lense hoods......

Ok so i know obv these two lense hoods are for different lenses ect.

But i want to know why one is round, and one is curved at the ends?

Just curious what the actual physiology is behind it.

one is for a wider field of view.... if the solid round one was on a wider lense it would vignette the corners.... hence the missing area of the other hood. its part of the angle of view.

So on a wider lense, the curvy hood would still produce vignetting but curvy? Do i get it lol?

no the curved ones curve out of the way of the wider angle of view therefore it wont be in the frame.
