For anyone doing the F23/F22a hybrid, I got some tips. When installing the driver side mount bracket, do NOT use the longer bolt from the F23 or you'll end up stripping the threads. That bolt is a little shorter than the F22a bolt.

I stripped the longer bolt on the bracket and had to use a tap and new bolt. Easy fix but man was it discouraging.

This bolt is what i'm talking about. Its shorter on the F23 cause the bracket where that bolt goes is not as thick as the F22a bracket.

Its really very simple, however I have an observation about my own hybrid build. When I weighed the harmonic balancer (crank pulley), I saw that the F23 one was a few ounces heavier than the F22a one. I originally tried to get the F23 one to work but as it turns out its wider and wouldn't fit, so I had to use the original F22a one. As it turns out, It appears I'm getting slight vibrations at 25-3500 rpms. At first I thought it was the the absence of balance shafts, then I thought about the weight difference in the pulley. JdmAccorn do you have any idea what the vibration is or am I just drawing conlusions?

the f23 does have a little more vibration tha the f22a does due to the shorter rods with longer stroke. the f23 also has a lower rpm operating range for the most part so the oem harmonic balancer will be setup to counter the torsional vibration of that engine. a f22a balancer on f23 is not a great idea but the other way around would be less detrimental. personally i would stick with the one for the crank you are running.

The F23A balancer doesn't fit on the F23A bottom end?

It does but its wider then the F22a balancer and won't go on cause the chassis is in the way. There is like zero clearance.

i think that was the f22 bottom end with the skunk2 intake manifold and the muffler shut. well pretty much everything is sold again minus a f22b head with f20a dohc cams. from what im told its like putting an a6 cam in an a4. current setup is street tuned so no numbers.

the ass dyno tells me im in the 170-175whp range again. it pulls strong but i left some room for improvement, im just not comfortable with my skills just yet so i had timing at 20* @ WOT. with afr's from 13.0 to 12.8.

ive also got rid of the other car. i want to start over with a clean slate and build it from the ground up again. i've started tinkering here and there to bring back the accord's softer nature. driving a monster everyday sounds fun until you actually have to. then it wears at you to the point you start enjoying riding in stock cars. i fixed my idle issues for when the a/c is on. i vacuumed it all down, flushed the system and installed a new orifice and filled it back up with the new 134a with "ice technology". by the way, that stuff really does make a difference. i replaced some squeeky bushings and white lithium'd everything i could think of. cleaned up some old wiring and tuned outsome driveability issues ive beenhaving. now if i had that electric power steering ive been wanting, for a while now, id be set till i start the ground up.

hey, when using the bisi valve springs, because theyre madd stiffer, do i have to use anything special for them? like a different kind of engine oil?

I know there was a kid on club3g that modified a saturn vue power steering system into his car and he said it worked pretty well. Idk if you would be able to fit that big motor underneath the dash of a cb though.

Good to see that the old F-hybrids are alive and well.

I picked up another f23 jdm block. It should be here in a couple days. I'm saving up some coins for the tsx piston/billet steel rod combo with another f22a6 head. I'm planning full blown sleeper this time. I will be porting a f22b intake manifold and building a hytech replica header with provisions for a factory exhaust heat shield.
