engine is put together and new stage 1 exedy clutch which will hopefully hold better than the exedy oem replacement, lol. 5yrs isnt bad though, considering the abuse. the oem exedy is only rated for 156ctq and mine was making over 155wtq at it's lowest point on that clutch. even if you factor in the 15% safety factor that clutch was still being overpowered, my flywheel can vouch for it, lol.
new one is rated for 190wtq so we'll see how it does. should be fine with the smaller dohc bottom end. hoping to get it tuned tomorrow and see how much power loss there is

I got a questions for your F23 hybrid.
-What harmonic balancer did you use? W
-What accessory belts?
-What lower timing cover?“Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you.”

F22a1 lower cover, ati dampner but good oem f23 one is acceptable and alternator/air conditioning belt only on mine. Well the jdm bottom I got had been sitting a while so the rings are stuck, boo low compression. 90, 91, 95, 150. Made 154whp/143wtq. Im doctoring it as we speak to see if the rings will loosen up and swell. Maybe ill get lucky. If not the distributor said they'd warranty it out for me. If they warranty it out I might try to get another f23 .

Day 2 after putting one cap of atf in each spark plug hole
Cylinder 1
Cylinder 2
Cylinder 3
Cylinder 4
Today
Cylinder 1
Cylinder 2
Cylinder 3
Cylinder 4
Both times ect temps were under 90deg so its consisten
Here is the pressure plate from the old clutch set, the disc was shot
Notice how it looks all glazed, that was from it slipping pretty much all the time.
And I re did the pcv setup.

How did you set the ignition timing without the F23 timing cover? I'll try using that with the balancer and see how it goes... thks.
I saw the number of the compression test, looks good. Hope my engine is not like that, it is JDM as well. Was you F23 locked up as well when you got it? The compression numbers from the store said it was 210psi, written on the timing cover. Just hope they weren't lying.
I would get another F23 and put K20 pistons in it, that would be really interesting.“Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you.”

No this one still has balance shafts and they are functioning. As far as the f23 goes, unless you plan on running a fairly large cam stay away from k20 pistons, cylinder pressures will be too high and you'll end up like ivan93egreppin210 from hondatech. As far as timing use the flywheel, all you need to do is notch the block in the same place as the f22.

It is an awesome experience reading through this entire thread. With the inclusion of the recent conversation relating bore, stroke, and compression, the F series N/A builder has all they need right here.
I appreciate you taking the time to put this together, help other people out, and share your mathematical models.

the long awaited....
f22b bottom end made 191whp and the f23 made 206whp. so a peak loss of 15whp and 13wtq. down low it's fairly noticeable but thanks to the clutch not slipping it's ass off in the first three gears the car actually feels faster up top, lol. i may just slap the f23 bottom end back in it with the new clutch and build the f22b bottom end. it should be 210whp~ with the clutch not slipping up top and alot faster in the first couple gears. as it turns out all that "wheel spin" in 2nd and 3rd gear was probably the clutch slipping. maybe i can get into the 13.6-13.7 range . id rather build the f22b bottom anyways because i can sleeve and bore it to 90mm, drop in a 100mm h22 crank and have a 2545cc monster of a f-series. the f23 is limited to a 87mm bore stock sleeve and 88mm aftermarket sleeved bore. trust me when i tell you that 2mm extra bore is worth it. 112cc increase in displacement is worth some hp. hell i only dropped 98cc and it cost me 15whp. so thats 17whp+ easy going from 2433cc to 2545cc. long story short, a stock f22b bottom end works well in stock form under a f22a6 head but a f23 bottom end in stock form works better.
