well once again i have had a bad turn of events. it just so happend i had a little over heating problem a few months ago and it turned out to be a sticky thermostat. so i replaced it along with all the temp sensors because i noticed the fans hardly ever came on. well about two days ago apparently the fail safe thermostat i put in failed in the shut position and the gauge temp sensor decided to fail aswell putting the gauge in the middle. i was cruising about 60mph and noticed the belt start to squeal and the check engine light came on. i thought it was odd it was squealing so i pulled over cut off the car and popped the hood. when i looked the engine looked fine and then i started the car and it idled with no squeal then all the sudden....POP! and the balance shaft seal came out and started spraying oil everywhere so i cut it back off, waited for it to cool down and checked the water. all of it was there and no oil in the water and vise versa. but when i checked the oil it was 2qts low. only problem was i had just checked it 20mins prior and added a quart, it was full!. it had burned 2qts that fast. so i checked the check engine light and it was an overheat code. just to put it into perspective, to burn oil that fast and force out a balance shaft seal the engine had to be over 250 degrees. soo....guess im going junkyard hunting for another grave yard engine.

I'd grab a couple. Grab one to swap in now and another to build. You may even want to get an F23A1 short block for the lower miles.

Well I have some interesting information. So one of my friends stops by this morning with his 94 accord I swapped a f22b in about 2-3 years ago and needs a headgasket. So we pull it down and I check the block and head for warpage and an idea pops in my head when I notice the pistons aren't dished like ths f22a. They actually are pretty much a flat top piston. So I pull out a surenge and check some things I've wondered for quite some time. The head cc's at 53.8cc and the piston is a -8.5cc dish with all the crap cleaned off it. Putting the compression at about 9.2:1. Just thought I'd share this.

Thats a bummer man. But the H23 VTEC is a mean lump. Crazy power and torque w/some pretty simple OEM mods. I cant blame you at all. Good luck

Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for all your help. I ended up throwing in my Blactraxx IAB spacer because of my IACV interference issue with the runner. Rosko racing makes a IACV relocation kit that I might try. Hopefully that works so I can remove the spacer for optimum performance. Thanks again though.

Don't give up now man... You've fought through so much shit already. Get another f22 and get that thing cranking.

im not giving up. turns out its a h23+vtec with a f20b valve cover. kid thought he was slick. anyways did a leak down on i and found out why he's selling it, lol. so no h23 vtec for me. im guessing its a sign. im either going with a f22a6 or an f23a1 short block this time. we'll see which one i find at pick-a-part in good condition first.

ordering one from jdmenginedepot.com, they're located in new jersey. my girl is buying it. she said no more junk yard motors. i told her i cant afford to build one till tax season so she's buying me one to run until taxes. hopefully it will work out. might even go with a f23 bottom end. with a 1 layer head gasket. i might even see 180whp with a nice bump in torque. it'll definitely qualify as the baddest stock block and head f-series, lol.
