I saw an f23a1 block at the yard just last week as well. Is there anything that needs to be done to match the f22 head to it? It is for an 85mm bore chamber where the block will be at 86mm. So instead of an f22 built, an f23 stock (bottom end) will be easier and get the results I'm looking for...? And for cheaper! I also would need to check out the legal stuff with having half of an f23a1. Or should it matter?

It's newer than your current block so California shouldn't care.
I wouldn't buy one that has had the head removed, though. Find one still in the car that is mostly intact. People take the automatic transmissions from the '98-'02 Accord 4-cylinders all day long so you'll find some with the front subframe dropped and the tranny out of your way already. It will be more work but the end result will be worth it because you'll have one that hasn't sat out with the cylinders exposed. I'd almost rule out any with the spark plugs removed as well, just to be on the safe side. Once water has sat in the bores then it needs a rebuild. My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

Those aren't typical sale prices, though. I couldn't give away my F23A1 head for anything more than scrap value. And I'd feel like hell if I took $150 from someone for a distributor. My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

Ths is definitely some pretty cool stuff... everything lines up with the f22 head, even though it was designed for 85mm? I thought I saw the pulley on the side was different though. For the sake of time ill stick with the f22, but I am sure ill give this a shot a few years down the line when I get my own place and a better paying job. Still interested in the f23... my main concern is if ca will allow a hybrid motor basically. Two halves of different motors... swaps are cool but I don't know about half a swap and since the emissions stuff is not from the "newer" motor will it be allowed? Those are my main concerns. Damn ca and their beautiful air.

well with the new valve adjustment and new header wrap along with a touch up on the tune power has increased and comes on much earlier.
the tuner and i were baffled at the power peaking 700ish rpms earlier then falling but the only conclusion we could come up with is with the added lift and duration coupled with the hotter exhaust gases the 2.5" exhaust has become a fairly large restriction and the throttle body could be marginally small at this point. i went back to the 64mm because i like the better throttle modulation. the 70mm had too much of an on/off feel to it but on the 205whp pull it showed vacuum at WOT from 6000rpm+.
