david it all depends on what you want, if you want a point and shoot camera then a regular a540 or a550 canon powershot shoot excellent pics, however if you are a beginner and want to really get into photography, the a canon powershot s3 IS is a great camera to start with. It really all ends up what you want out of the camera. From what you said a point and shoot camera would be the best bet for you.

yeah cause Kodak sucks...LOL. However accordtunerzz has a fujifilm and it takes pretty good pics

I used to have a Sony one too that blew chunks compared to the Canon!! You can tell the difference in the pictures...

not hating on kodak, I actually own one its a kodak easyshare v630 i think, and i personally didn't like it. I guess each person has different taste

Or u can get a Sony DSC-W7 point and shoot camera and do like my friend Hoshi did...It's all about settings too.
