so the only real solution is to get a ball joint that is...welded...or otherwise permanently secured into the arm? I don't know if a "better" snap ring would fix that issue

Yeah. But I think the control arm I put it into was tweaked slightly from 2 years of hitting my inner fenders when I had my camber kit on. Since taking that off I have yet to hear control arms hit anything.

I went to 2 near me. At one they had some red ones, different style with bungee cord laces in 9.5 (not really my size) and then I went to another store and found these in 10 for $19.99. These are lined with Nomex! At least my feet won't burn.

I am going to try and hit up another store tomorrow. These felt great during the autox. Much better than my chunky Vans.
