Hey everyone! I'm new to the boards (Thanks to accordtunerx for referring me here through Online Showoff). I have been out of the import scene for almost a year now, due to the drama and headaches of getting the guy that's working on my car to finally finish. Hopefully that will actually come true some time soon.

I love this site already. It was such a mission trying to find parts and info on 4th gens when I first started working on my ride, but this site is basically a one-stop shop for us 4th gen lovers. I hope to learn a great deal and meet some new friends here as the work on my car evolves. Thanks for checking me out. Peace.

These are pics that I took the day I got my rims. I stuck on the M3 side skirts to get a general idea of the car height with the kit. The rims were only mounted on the passenger side, once again just for test fitting.


This shot is the day they cut into my trunk, shaving the stock license plate box and beginning the process of fitting the R33 tail lights. Everything is basically just stuck on for test fitting. (note the masking tape securing the bumper)


The rest of these shots I took when I saw the car for the first time since being painted. You can see most of the bodywork.
*the M3 mirrors have been re-painted black to match the roofline
*The hood and engine were at another shop that day, so I don't have any pics, sorry.

I usually dont like the kits and everything but yours looks good. I am thinking that the color will also look real nice since the top of the car will be black. I was thinking about doing that after i saw a 5th gen do the same. It gives it a different but cool look. Good luck on getting everything finished.

accordzoom - Unfortunately, I had only put the rims on in the picture just to see how they looked and then I took them right off. They are still brand new with the stickers on the tires. I wouldn't be able to tell you how they ride and respond right now, sorry.

I was just going to get 18's originally, but as I saw more and more rides with kits ... I realized that the 18's didn't fill out the wheelwells like I wanted them to. They still looked small, at least to me, since the kit extended the body. That's why I went with the 19's to fill out the gap. I'm happy with my decision... so far.

When I get my ride running again, I'll be sure to let you know the ride quality.

Your car looks sweet man...but you took my idea, the gas door...I bought mine almost a year ago but havent had a chance to install it yet. Love the paint job and rims. Cant wait to see the finished product.

Very very nice man. I was going to do the R33 tail light conversion but decided not to so I just shaved my trunk lid. I shaved all my shit too. Your conversion looks pretty cool. What exactly did you do with your gas lid? I just did the custom tail light thing but havent seen many other people do shaved gas doors.

akkordlayinkit - Hehehe. Actually... I bought my Sparco fuel cap way over a year ago. I bought alot of my parts long before my car went into the shop. For example, I bought my entire kit a week after I bought my car.

I basically wanted to have everything that I needed exterior-wise available and ready. It's sadly ironic though that despite having all the parts on-hand, my car is still stuck in "bodyshop hell" after a year.

-My stock gas door was taken off.
-A piece of sheetmetal was cut to match the opening.
-Next a hole was cut into that piece for the fuel cap to fit.
-Then the piece was welded in place of the stock door.
-The fuel cap was then installed.

Hope that wasn't too confusing. I'm not on AIM that much, but when I'm on, I'll try to hit you up. As far as pics go... I don't really have anymore currently, but as soon as I get some new ones, I'll post them here.

4drcord - Yeah I got the idea to paint my car like this from an old issue of Option2. Then right before my car went into the shop, all of a sudden everyone started coming out with the same combo. But now that you mention it, I haven't seen any other 4th gens painted like mine.

Do you have a pic of it? At first when I looked it seemed like it was recessed in the body (how im gonna do mine), but from what you said it sounds like its layin flush with the body. Also have you used it yet? It seems like it might be a little time consuming with unlocking-> turning-> and pulling the cap out...and what did you do to seal it up? Did you just use the gasket that came with it and left out the factory cap, or modify the original cap or what? When I was playing around with mine it started making me think how am I gonna get it to be air-tight.

Sorry, I don't have any pics of it up close. I listed those steps above quickly just to give rebels an idea of the mod. There was a little bit more work done to make it fit.

The fuel cap is "semi-flush", due to the body line that runs along the side of the car. (you can see the reflection of the light hitting the line I'm talking about in the below pic)



Yes, the guy that did the work just used the gasket that came with it. The factory screw on cap is gone, because they cut that section off to fit the funnel. The funnel is welded to the back of the opening for the cap. I have never used it at a pump yet. I'll try to get pics up when the ride is finished.
