PLENTY of people run stock f22's to 300whp and what's the first thing to blow? Pistons, not rods. I've yet to see a rod snap due to too much power that wasn't in any way related to oil starvation.

Hell, p13 rods can handle 500whp to 8k without issues and if memory serves me right, the pt3's were just as "beefy", just shorter.
Just wanted to add my 2¢ to this point. Most times when I have heard about or actually witnessed any sort of failure due to a connecting rod. It was actually due to the con rod bolts snapping under the stresses, not the rods themselves.

        Yep.

LS rods can handle 9k RPM's with some arp's all day long and those are pretty thin next to f22 rods.

spinning at a high amount of rpms is one thing.... the HIT of a nitrous shot is another

Yeah, and there's no difference to the rods. It's not like it's a change of direction.

Wish I had listened to this

I FINALLY got around to replacing my cam seals, along with a new tbelt and front crank seal. Upon start up, the fucking seals started leaking. They leaked 1 quart in about 30 seconds of idling. I thought it was installation error, so I redid them today and when I was doing it, I noticed they fucking slide back and forth like nothing.

So I went down to my favorite auto parts store that carries nothing but OEM quality shit and bought some new ones. These were CFK or something like that. But I measured them and the new ones were 1.79", vs the felpro's were 1.67".

No more felpro for me from now on.

i agree with everything said.. and will try to stray from turning your thread into a tech article again.. as me/you/ and a few others always like to do

BUT.. just because Rods dont know the amount of power being laid on them.. doesnt mean that power doesnt create stress points throughout the rod.. if rod size/diamter/shape had no correlation with power output.. why buy aftermarket rods? to retain the power being produced at a faster rate(RPM) and to allow for a greater horizontal load.

your N/A so your compression is gonna be decently up there.. and you plan on spraying as well.. your dynamic compression is gonna be might tight like a virgin when you hit that toggle switch..

you say that you havent seen a rod fail unless due to oil starvation.. am i wrong in stipulating that a 100shot of nitrous is a drastic change to a motors characteristics? in regards to cylinder load.

all im saying is.. rod failure is in part because of the stress seen by the piston.. they work as one solid unit..

im just rambling .. but i know you get my point..

either way .. power to you.. if u do plan on using stock rods.. but with how cheap Aftermarket rods are (grow balls and try some bisi's)

                why bother with stocks?

Bisi's are heavy and too beefy.

Richie ran a 100shot on his f22 and it still pulled like a mother. It had slight wrist pin slap tho.

and if the wrist pin is distorted..or out of round..what does that tell you?

The impact of nitrous..or just the general use of nitrous..has pushed the piston/rod combo out of its normal operation specificiations...makes me wonder what his bearings looked like..and if he had rod bolt stretch?

That probably took well over 2 years to happen. I'll ask him how his shit looked like, or if he even took it apart.

Side loading is a bigger issue here, but even that isn't significant enough. You girls like making big deals over nothing. I don't like speculation.

Well fuck, since I have owned this car, I have never missed driving it as much as I do now.

I got a flat tire last week. I woke up to go have breakfast with my gf, and I see my pass side is super low and guess what it's a flat tire. Since I have no spare, it's been parked in front of my house all week.

I've been driving my gf's saturn, or my dads camry.

The car finally has good suspension and doesn't fucking leak and I can't fucking drive it. fucking ***. I was JUST starting to enjoy driving my car.
