I still haven't made it to an exhaust shop with this thing yet. It needs it desperately. It has been being driven with bungie cords hooked into the catalytic converter cover bolt/stud holes to keep it pointing backwards. Somehow it's still quieter than it was prior.
It stumbles on startup pretty bad sometimes. It will dead miss on one cylinder until it clears up after about 15 seconds of idling. It's got tons of power though (for what it is) so I don't think it's compression related. Once it's running you can let it sit for 30 minutes at idle and it runs great without a hiccup. I've starved one for oil with an oil leak before which lead to loss of compression in #3 so this having a BS shaft seal pushed out when I bought it this is still in the back of my mind. However, I think it might be fuel related or possibly ignition related. The only primary component ignition related left to not be replaced by me is the coil.
It also is leaking coolant but I'm wondering if it's not consuming it. I don't see any leaks when it sits and it does't need coolant unless you drive it. And you know when it's low on coolant because it idles up and down (Honda idle) until it gets to operating temperature. If you add coolant right away is stops idling erratically immediately.
I wonder about the head gasket because I can see what looks to be blue film on the head gasket where the head and block meet right on the driver side corner of the head where the power steering pump would be. It had wording on it but when I messed with it it came off. I think what I found was a Fel-Pro head gasket. So, I wonder what that's about. Also, when the head is much cleaner than the block like it's been hot tanked, it's kinda a give-a-way.
