That is a larger caliper, if I remember right, it is two pad sizes over stock accord

If memory serves, then there's an aluminum version of that caliper available on the JDM CL7 Euro-R. That's what I was looking for at one time. Now that I've got big brakes going on the front of the car I may have to renew that search.

Edit* That was the shortest search ever. Apparently they are aluminum on the second generation RL here in the States as well. I know you already have yours purchased, so just take it as an FYI.

I don't actually do any of the welding, I occasionally tack stuff together. I have an awesome welder and don't want to take the years to learn to weld as good as I want it.

Damn man Ive popped in a couple times, but replace the pea shooters with tig torches..props.

one thing do you worry about the cast having embrittlement issues welding to them?

I can't take credit for the welding as I stated in the previous post. Cast is very hard to weld and you definitely need someone who know what they are doing. I am always reminded by my welder that Honda has the worst out of anything he has ever welded. The super large reinforcement is there to help prevent issues.

Hmmm, I could use a little bit of weight savings. Those 12.3" things are damn heavy and I still don't have the parking brakes on it yet.

I had to cut out a section of the rear arms to clearance the body, so I decided to cut all the way to the bushing. I will plate the backside to replace the strength I lost.

Drilled some mounting holes and took the dust shield off. Also made some holes for the caliper bracket bolt

I thought you were doing the welding this whole time as well. Who ever is doing it for you is a bad ass. The welds look really good.

I cut, grind, mock up, make brackets, most everything but weld. I get to the use the lathe once in blue moon, but that is probably for the best.


I may just call my welder a welder but that is extremely downplaying what he does. He actually is an engineer designing and building the best off road vehicles. I would say he is the 'Adrian Newey' of the off road world
