                    Tackling the Rust

                    Thanks all for the comments!

Tackling a Michigan car is not easy. Rust is something that can be very difficult if you don't know what your doing. You can in fact ruin your car rather than fix it! If you ever want some tips let me know.

I Should have final pics up probably today. With Paint.

I appreciate the comment, but I don't want you to mislead others that have no other option (I.e. $). IF done right with proper layering and equipment with a clean room and the proper tools it will not come back in "no time". It can in fact last years...

IF it is done right AND you clean your car regularly AND correctly for what ever elements there may be (I.e. Salt for Michigan) AND maintain the work you do then it WILL last (remember it's not as good as welding, but welding can cause problems as well if not done right...).

IF you do a sloppy job (like most) and do not put the time needed to complete it correctly and are not willing to maintain it... it will not last. I am not most. This was a long process.

Rust does not just create itself. It must have an outside element that penetrates the metal (I.e. water, other liquids, etc.) If you sand down to raw metal and work in a clean room you will not have those elements available for destruction. You then create a complete seal around that metal so that it is not able to come in contact with outside elements and then work from there.

                              Now... *deep breath* haha!

Yes, the bondo or other sealant will fall apart over a period of time, but it will be from the outside in and not the inside out (If done right). From there you just maintain it like anything else on your car.

I will post picture two years later for proof (if I still have her).

BUT AGAIN! Thank you for your concern.

The method I used was the same my dad used in the cold war to patch planes. hahah!
