Looks like a fun project for you ahead, and I am not being sarcastic. What paint are you using?
Thanks. I've tried many of course, but I've been hooked on this stuff lately....
It's thick and I like the way it comes out of the can. It's like undercoating coming out and it seems to stick really well. Other paints I've tried run easy and are like a mist out of the can.
I will have to try that since I got a new car to do this again but I have had good luck with this stuff. It even works great with painting plastic trim pieces.

cool, for plastics I use a Krylon paint for plastic that i get at walmart
Wow, that takes me back. This is back around 2000. I had the brushed aluminum bezel with those chrome rings. Later I removed the bezel and left the rings on. Finally, I replaced the cluster a few years back and never transferred the rings. Now that I think about it, I kinda miss them.
2000, shit I'm old!
Wait, hold on one second, be right back...
God damn kids always walking on my lawn!
Ok, what was I saying? Oh ya something about nipple rings?
