i didnt know 92-93 came with the [S] "sport" option for the transmission ?
i thought only 90-91 came with that option
did you change the Cluster ?

its an option from what i understand i think only for (Automatics) that makes the gear shift at a higher RPM . if im correct from what i remember reading in the Owners man of my old 90 ex that had the option. the Sport option. the button was mounted right on the shifter.

this is the quickest picture i could come up with . see on the auto shifter. there a button on the left side of the shifter . you would press it to engage the SPORT option and unpress it to disengage hope this helps

Front end is looking good! And to answer your question(or atleast from previous knowledge) I believe it's a tranny swap cause 90-91 clusters didn't come with the "ABS" and "maintance required" options! 
Someone correct me if I'm wrong!
