    Motor Abuse Vids!

Ok, I've been telling you all that I was gonna blow up my F22A4 before I put the new motor in.....AND HERE'S THE VID OF IT!!!!

Basically, I removed the 5k Rev-limit chip that I've been driving around with for the past few weeks. That bumped the rev-limit back up to 6.8k. I started the car and lodged the gas pedal at WOT. You can definitely hear the valves going apeshit and smackin the pistons immediately. I was hoping that the motor would throw a piston or rod or something that would cause it to "blow up". However, instead of blowing up, it caught on fire. Something on or near the exhaust causght on fire which melted the plastic oil pressure line which sprayed oil onto the exhaust and caused a decent fire. The piston rings are gone on the motor so you know the oil had some fuel mixed in with it which I'm sure helped out a lot. The best part was after the fire started, my buddy Evan couldn't figure out how to work the fire extinguisher so alls I could do is sit there and watch my car smoke! Enough of an introduction...here's the vid. YOU MUST HAVE SOUND ON FOR THIS VID!

And here's a quick vid checkin out the damages immediately afterwards:

And after all of this abuse, here's the best part. The damn motor refuses to die!

And here's a vid of the new motor running. Exhaust still isn't totally done so it's running an open header and is EXTREMELY loud!

I know I'm crazy, but it was a lot of fun and I'd do it all over again

LOL! I'm thinking that maybe I shoulda drained the oil and coolant first while I was at it. Then it pretty much deff. woulda blown sky high!

OT: I still haven't ordered the chip burning equipment. Maybe this month or next month. I'm gonna be looking for a good basemap for the new F22B1 w/simple bolt-ons if you have one or can make one for me *wink wink*.

looks good.. question is, how much do your neighbors hate ya?

edit: why no revving in the vid of the new engine? Sounded pretty dang quiet for open header. I started up the h22 w/no header at all, pretty cool seeing the little flames shooting out of the head. Sounded like a dragster.

I haven't revved the new motor up past 2.5k yet. I figured I get the exhaust straight and let it warm up enough so that I can set the ignition timing first. It hasn't been running for more than 5 min at a time yet. I'm so backup at work that I won't be able to touch it for another few days or maybe a week or so.

No complaints from the neighbors. They're so used to me blastin music and driving cars with no exhaust that I guess they just figured it was another average day

ahh ok, so is that just header or header and downpipe?

Haha.. they were probably excited thinking you finally smoked your engine and would stop messing with cars.

Just header. I've gotta chop up the crossmember to fit the downpipe. Then I've gotta make a section of pipe to join the downpipe to the cat. It's a bitch and it's gonna take a little time.

I'll grab a vid of the new motor revvin up when I go back to the shop. Should have it posted later today.

Amazing, you guys were standing back like the thing was a bomb!! LOL. Long live the f22. You could have sold it instead? What are you going to do with it now?

No I couldn't have sold it. It has over 300k miles on it, the compression was as low as 130 on cyl. #1, the valve springs were floating so bad that the valves were smacking the pistons at RPM's above 5.5k (heard in the vid), it needs a new crank cause the crank pulley bolt threads were stripped from being taken on and off so many times, it burned oil like a bitch, the head gasket had a small air leak between cyl. #1 & #2, and so on. It was just time to be retired.

On a good note, I've had the motor for 8 years and it's been in 3 different Accords and has served me well up until a few months ago when it's issues became very apparent. I'm gonna end up stripping it down and selling what's good on it like the intake manifold, sensors, fuel system parts, etc. I dunno tho, it's kinda like "The little engine that could". It just won't give up no matter how much I abuse it so maybe I'll keep it around and rebuild it for a mild boost application?!?!? If anyone needs any F22 parts, PM me and I'll see if it's any good.
