    Hood Photoshop

I've been thinking about painting my hood white, getting hood vents/louvers off like a Camaro, and putting them and a tach on the hood. Blah, blah, rice, blah, blah, blah.... Only criticise if it's creative criticism.

Not necessarily, Ty. Actually, all of this has already been done on my car by a previous owner, the same guy who did all the other stuff to it about three years back. I just never saw the car until he sold it to the guy who painted the hood black to look like a carbon fiber hood. The guy actually kept the hood when he got rid of my car and now sports it on his '90 coupe he painted flat black.

it would fit with the wing perfectly.

But seriously...it would be creative, but would serve no purpose. A tach on the hood, i've only seen at the tracks on only track cars, meaning that they usually aren't on the streets. Someone would swipe the tach in an instant or would try and hit it off, because they would believe it useless. The hood vents would be creative, but again serve no purpose. I hope you understand that this is going to require a lot of fabrication and you will get a lot of grief for it. As an experiment go for it, as a practicallity don't.

As I've stated before, this has already been done on this exact car. The guy who originally did all the customization already did all this. He just kept the hood when he traded this car for something else. Even if somebody does gank the tach, it's only a $5.00 loss for me.... But I highly doubt anybody will because they never did when he had the car. That guy did the louvers and so has my friend with his '89 Civic Si. Vents serving no purpose? Hardly. It would depend on the vents. If they actually vent then they do have a purpose....

your not supposed to put a Tach on the hood..that makes NO fucking sense. the guages you usually see on the hood are Fuel pressure guages, since its easier to keep them outside the cabin, rather than building an internal enclosure (which you need at most tracks)

Are there laws restricting everything on a car to "make sense?" Not so much, no. It's to be different, once again. And there were cars--street cars, even--with tachometers on their hoods.

Granted, they're different types of tachs, but they're tachs, nonetheless.

a honda - import, those you showed us are all american cars....

a tach on the hood stupid idea.... why? because you can't see it if its raining. or snowing or theres dirt all over the windshield. what if it gets dirty? and you're driving? blah blah blah other factors than it being "cool"

I'm not an import guy. I grew up loving muscle cars. This is my first import.

"a tach on the hood stupid idea.... why? because you can't see it if its raining. or snowing or theres dirt all over the windshield. what if it gets dirty? and you're driving? blah blah blah other factors than it being 'cool'"

I don't care if I can't see it when it's raining. It's an Accord. It's got a tach inside.... What if it gets dirty? Who cares? It's the friggin' SKEET RIDE. Don't you know what that means? It means it's most definitely not my show car!

I don't have a problem with people giving their opinions and even criticizing (as long as it's constructive) this car, but what's really getting on my nerves is how they think my car has to be EXACTLY like theirs. Maybe I'm tired of being part of the stupid mold. Maybe I want to stand out.... It's my P.O.S. I'll line the frickin' wing with tachometers if I want.

Well, bifocals, I come bearing updates. So far I've primered the hood white and installed the tachometer.

This one below is of my friend John standing next to the car just after we took the hood off.

This is at his house, by the way, not mine.

We actually drove to town for more primer with the hood off. lol It was fun getting funny looks.

Here's at my house this morning after we primered the hood white and installed the tach last night. I wired the tach to the distributor not long after I took these next pictures

Well, that's all for now. I'll keep updating as I go along.
