I like this thread. I did this to my cluster. I was thinking of doing it to my climate control but never had the chance. Good write up.

does anybody know if the neowedge bulbs that are sold on superbrightleds.com work in the dash switches?

they make them in 3,4, & 5mm and they are 12v

that would be a lot easier than wiring standalones with resisitors

I haven't looked in a while, but I remember seeing them and I think they will. Look at the bases and bulb of the ones you have and take measurements, there are dimensional diagrams on their site if I remember correctly. I have messed with more Honda dash parts than just Accords, so I don't know for sure if this applies to us, but they make a few different sizes of those types of bulbs and holders, sometimes the base of one will look right, but it will be too loose or too tight in the mounting hole. I say if they're cheap, buy a couple and find out, it won't cost much if it doesn't work, but it'll sure make things simple for you if it fits the application. Go for it.

Keep in mind most LEDs are directional like a flashlight, so having a component led on wire legs you can bend and point where you want is probably desirable in certain switches. On my 2nd full dash conversion, I put my resistors in the dash wiring to each switch so that I would only have to mount the LED in the switch, and it is better for heat reasons. LEDs blow when they get hot and resistors get hot when they power LEDs.

thanks bro, yea i think im just gonna order a few and test them out

i know for some i will still have to solder the standalones tho

and thats a great idea about wiring the resistor inline with the wiring, i didnt even think about that

when converting, what voltage is best? 12v or 14v?
also, the ebay leds i found come with resistors. how do i know if theyll work. you can choose from 9-14v
i dont know much about wattage and ohms, etc...thanks all

I used the 12v and have never had an led burn out. They do dim after a while though.

Hmmm... It seems that cp[mike]'s web server got infected somehow. (Thats where the links used to point to.) I tried to go to the DIY itself on his server, but my browser blocked it due to a redirect to a malicious site.
