Just an FYI if not already in the previous 11 pages:

Heat guns aren't great because the sealant cools off before you get all the way around.

If the silicone isn't soft enough, you WILL chip the glass lens. I used 2 large flat blade screw drivers and slowly (using both a twisting and wedging technique) to work the lens loose. You have to do like a paint can lid. A little leverage at a time, until one side pops out. I used a razor blade to cut the stretching coolant (like cheese on a hot pizza). Keeps it from snapping back and sticking to the inside of the lens.

Gyuri - the hardest part is taping off the areas.. at least it was for me. Tape wouldn't stick! haha

Nice write-up. I was thinking of doing this at my sister's house this weekend while her husband installs my new VSS, but after reading about the smells, I'm not sure I want to with her baby in the house. Maybe I'll do my headlights Saturday and show them off to my brother in law Sunday when I go over there

Now I just need a camera and some black/clear blue paint...

I used this writeup back in the day. Worked great for me. Has neone tried doing FULL yellow high beam?? instead of blackhousing the sides and spraying just the back chrome part in yellow in the high beam? Any pictures?

do you leave the tape on when you put it in the oven to cure the paint?

Yes and no. If you are in a hurry, yes. If not, then let the paint air dry, then peel the tape. (This is my favorite way of doing it) Then cure in the oven.

Then if you plan on yellow highs, apply right out the oven and let air dry.

                      Hope this helps.

Also, I will be posting new PICS for the DIY soon. I have a better camera now.

Thanks to all that have used this DIY. And keep posting pics of yours!!!!

how do we do the amber with the jdm headlights?

                          add steps?

                          what brand type of paint?

krylon orange but good luck finding it.

ebay has amber paint, then apply it to the turn signal.

-How- Once you have the headlight apart, you will see that the corner lens is easy to get to.

-What- You can now use Tamiya Model paint, since Krylon no longer makes stained glass paint. The Tamiya needs to be applied in very thin thin coats, as it tends to run.

-Where- Tamiya has a website. I believe there are around $7-8 a can shipped.

-Part #s- Here is a list of part numbers:

                              - Amber- TS-73
                              - Yellow- PS-42 (Note this is a translucent color, so you have to go easy on coats)
                              - Red- TS-74
                              - Blue- TS72

                              Hope this helps.

Also, I will be revising the OP, to include better pictures and more details.
