Hello all. It's time for me to do my first diy. I had an LED bar laying around from a spoiler, so decided to get some use out of it. How you ask? By adding it to the top of the rear window. You can't go wrong when having another breaking light. The LED bar is bright. And very visible through most window tint. Almost lighting up the entire window. There is no reason anyone can say they didn't see your break lights, night or day. Feedback is appreciated
What you'll need is...
LED bar. The length is up to you.
Extra lengths of wire(Maybe)
Wire cutters
Scissors
Some way to attach the bar to the head liner (i used 3m double sided tape)
Electrical tape or shrink tubing
Quick connectors
Rubbing alcohol
Rags
Disconnect your battery. Lay the rear seat down. Open your deck lid and remove the bulb thats inside the 3rd brake light at the bottom of the window. There are two wires for this light socket. A green and black. Splice or use quick connectors to connect the bar wires to the break wires. I ran the wires through the back of the seat opening.
Measure the bar to find the center. There is a plug in the headliner that looks to be centered. Use that to alight the bar.
Clean your liner and the light with rubbing alcohol and let dry before you apply the tap. Once you've found the cent. Stick it on.
Now tuck the extra wire away in the interior trim for a clean looking install.
