DIY Amber bumper lights.

It gets amber, thats how I did my bumper lights.

yea but how many coats and does it look smooth?

why not color them from the inside? all you need is a heat gun, maybe the color will last?

Yes you have to do more than 3-4 coats for the krylon paint to turn amber.

Sharpie isn't going to last.

Where did you find that marker, I tried coloring my clock with a narrow tip one and you could see all the lines when it lit up.

What if you sprayed a few light layers of clear on it? just to seal it a little better?

I tried that and it made the lens look foggy I quickly took it off and resharpied them.

damm that sucks thats what i figured would happen, i tryed opening a bumper light in the oven but that didnt work before otherwise like he said ^ color them from the inside

Use a heat gun or hair dryer.

Update bump. The last step is to cover the lens with some clear vynal tape so they wont fade.

Clear Vinyl tape? Never heard of it... Where can you pick that up? I have my bumper off already might as well kill two birds with one stone.

Always thought about going the stained glass paint route but that always looks so yellow, I want something that will come close to matching Ebay amber corners.

Its the tape for covering up broken head-taillights. They sell it at any auto store. I like the stained glass look, but they look better darker.

I was at Walmart earlier and looked in the automotive section with no luck, didnt even have reflective tape. I asked the guy in automotive about it.. He tried to sell me clear packaging tape.

I had to buy the 4 pack, couse it was the only one that had the orange sharpie. I have 3 extra sharpies that I will never use.

Looks good man! I have clear bumper lights for my cb(not installed) but Ima keep my clear bumper lights til I paint my OEM bumper lights just like yours
lol looks mad clean
